  Ensuring Software Perfection with Datadog

  Datadog is an intuitive software that I use for detailed records of all recent actions, showing me whether a process was successful or not. If a process fails, it identifies the faulty stage and explains everything from start to finish. I find the basic building blocks of Datadog to be excellent. Its data ingestion is incredibly fast and usually reliable, and its graph widget is adaptable and usable in many contexts. They also have a good history of introducing products that combine these features. However, my experiences with Datadog's support have been consistently negative, as the company seems to avoid direct communication and provides irrelevant responses. I switched to Datadog because my compute relies mostly on simple observability. It's a fantastic tool for visualizing application performance, particularly for Kubernetes applications.

  Excellent for AWS Integration

  I've been using DataDog to monitor lambda logs for errors and to track load and uptime on various RDS and EC2/Fargate instances. While the setup for multiple accounts can sometimes be unstable, the product generally performs well with a consistent interface. The log imports from AWS are efficient and faster at searching than using AWS Cloudwatch. On a daily basis, I find it easy to search for items in logs, particularly after implementing a few log transformers. The initial setup can occasionally be confusing, and I found it simpler to change the logging format of our code than to implement many parsers to improve log interpretation. I chose DataDog for its superior and easier integration with our current development stack. I switched to DataDog because searching logs was too slow and challenging to get the results we needed quickly, especially when tracking down recent customer problems.

This was a great reminder to always read the fine print and understand what I'm signing up for. I would highly recommend Datadog to any budding startup. It's a fantastic tool that pushes you to be more aware of your resource usage and to optimize your operations. Just make sure you understand their pricing structure and you're good to go!
