Pros from reviewers

  • Modernized PowerPoint presentations: Prezi has revolutionized the traditional PowerPoint presentation format, offering a more dynamic and engaging experience for both the presenter and the audience

  • Real-time editing: Unlike other presentation software, Prezi allows for real-time editing, meaning any changes made will be immediately visible when the presentation link is clicked

  • Collaboration feature: Prezi enables users to collaborate on presentations, making it an ideal tool for group or team projects

  • Unique zoom feature: Prezi's unique zoom feature adds visual interest to presentations, helping to engage the audience and make presentations stand out

  • Range of data analysis tools: Prezi offers a range of data analysis tools, making it an excellent choice for business presentations or presentations involving data.

Cons from reviewers

  • Limited smartphone accessibility: Despite the growing trend of using smartphones for tasks like homework and office work, Prezi lacks robust mobile features. Users cannot create or edit their presentations on their phones, and there is no offline mode for working without an internet connection

  • Limited customization and formatting: Prezi does not provide as many presentation options as other software. It restricts users in terms of customization and formatting, which can make creating presentations more time-consuming compared to other software

  • Unreliable performance: Prezi is not always reliable, often crashing, resizing, and moving images and text. This can be particularly problematic when working on tight deadlines or presenting in the field where wifi or potential firewalls can't be controlled

  • Inability to modify templates: Prezi's inability to modify templates is extremely limiting and frustrating. If users want to refresh the design after creating a presentation, they essentially have to rebuild the entire Prezi from scratch using a different template design

  • Poor customer service: Numerous users have reported poor customer service experiences with Prezi. From unfulfilled promises of assistance to difficulties in accessing old accounts and deleting unwanted presentations, the customer service aspect of Prezi leaves much to be desired.

Rediscovering the Benefits of Prezi: A Personal Experience

I've had such a unique experience with Prezi! I was able to easily retrieve my old account and was pleasantly surprised to find a college presentation I made still intact. It's fantastic that Prezi keeps your work safe and accessible, even after a long time. Plus, it's so cool that my presentation is public and searchable under my name - it's like having my own professional portfolio! I'm definitely going to continue using Prezi and I highly recommend you give it a try too!

      Prezi: A Balanced Review

Pros: I find Prezi fairly simple to use with easy integration of images and videos from the web browser via drag and drop. The presentations are extremely attractive, a huge leap from PowerPoint, as it embodies a different philosophy. Cons: However, in longer presentations and hence bigger files, it takes too long to download images. Even when using the desktop app, one might think it will use offline synced files, but apparently not. The desktop app also consumes too much memory, so it's not very efficient and there's room for improvement.

      Stunning Yet Constrained - Prezi's Double-Edged Sword

Overall, I appreciate Prezi's capability to create highly dynamic presentations, which I find crucial for tasks like training, onboarding, or corporate presentations. However, I find the lack of ability to make significant design changes quite restrictive, and I hope this improves in the future. Since discovering Prezi, I haven't used PowerPoint. I value how interactive and engaging Prezi is, which distinguishes it from other software. However, the inability to modify templates is extremely limiting and frustrating. If I want to refresh the design after creating a presentation, I essentially have to rebuild the entire Prezi from scratch using a different template design. I switched to Prezi because PowerPoint presentations were not as engaging.

An Educator's Review: The Value and Potential of Prezi Next

I would give Prezi a full five-star rating if I could! Prezi has always been a fantastic tool, and with Prezi Next, it's taken a leap into the future. While it's true that I can't download my transcript directly and it's not compatible with a screen reader for the visually impaired, I'm confident that these are areas they're working on improving. As an educator, I understand the value of investment, and I'm more than willing to subscribe to such a dynamic platform. Especially during the COVID crisis, it's been a lifesaver, helping me to deliver engaging online lessons. While PowerPoint is part of the Microsoft Suite, I find Prezi's unique features and interactive design more appealing. I'm looking forward to using it more in the future!
