Why is Smartsheet a good alternative to Planview?
I believe Planview is a great alternative to Smartsheet primarily due to its superior project portfolio management capabilities. The software offers a holistic view of all ongoing projects, allowing managers to make informed decisions and prioritize tasks effectively. Moreover, Planview boasts robust resource management features, helping teams optimize their workloads and avoid burnout. The tool's time tracking capabilities are also commendable, providing real-time insights into project timelines and employee productivity. Furthermore, Planview's intuitive interface and seamless integrations with other popular business tools enhance user experience and streamline workflows. While Smartsheet is an excellent tool in its own right, Planview's comprehensive feature set tailored for complex project management needs gives it an edge in my opinion.
What are the differences between Smartsheet and Planview?
I have tested both Planview and Smartsheet for project management, and I've noticed several key differences between the two. Firstly, Planview is more comprehensive and robust, with a wider range of features such as portfolio management, resource management, and capacity planning. This makes it more suitable for large enterprises with complex project management needs.
On the side of the alternative, Smartsheet is simpler and more user-friendly, making it a better choice for smaller teams or businesses that don't require as many advanced features. It has an intuitive interface that resembles a spreadsheet, which many users find familiar and easy to use.
Another key difference lies in their pricing structures. Planview is generally more expensive due to its extensive capabilities, while Smartsheet offers more affordable options for smaller businesses. Therefore, the choice between the two would largely depend on the specific needs and budget of your team or organization.

The Invaluable Role of ServiceNow's CMDB in IT Infrastructure Management
As a system administrator, I find the configuration management database (CMDB) in ServiceNow invaluable. It helps us maintain an up-to-date inventory of our IT infrastructure

Why is ServiceNow a good alternative to Planview?
I believe that Planview is a good alternative to ServiceNow because of its unique features and benefits. Unlike ServiceNow, Planview provides a more comprehensive view of your workload, resources, and projects. It helps you visualize your work in different ways, including Gantt charts, Kanban boards, and portfolio dashboards, making it easy to prioritize tasks and track progress. Additionally, Planview offers robust project management tools that allow for better collaboration and communication among team members. It's also known for its excellent customer service and user-friendly interface. For organizations looking for a more holistic approach to work management, Planview is definitely worth considering.
What are the differences between ServiceNow and Planview?
I have used both Planview and ServiceNow, and I find that they serve different functions within the realm of business management. Planview is more focused on portfolio and resource management. It provides a comprehensive view of your company's projects, resources, and financials, allowing managers to make informed decisions based on real-time data. On the other hand, ServiceNow is an IT service management tool. It helps streamline IT services within a company, from incident and problem management to change and release management. ServiceNow also offers a self-service portal for users to report issues, request services, etc.
While both tools offer workflow automation and integration capabilities, they target different areas of business operations. In summary, Planview is more about managing projects and resources while ServiceNow is about managing IT services and processes.
Microsoft Project brings value by providing a comprehensive and powerful project management solution. With features such as task scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting, and collaboration tools, it allows businesses to effectively plan, track, and manage projects of any size.

Microsoft Project – Solid, but shows its age
We've been using Microsoft Project for a while in our mid-sized team. It’s definitely built for structure — scheduling, dependencies, critical paths — all of that works well if you take the time to set it up right. But in practice, we’ve faced a few limitations: Too steep a learning curve for non-PM team members Limited collaboration unless paired with other Microsoft tools Reporting and dashboarding feel outdated without Power BI integration Not as adaptable for hybrid or agile workflows It does its job for traditional project plans, but if your team is evolving or distributed, you might start feeling the friction. We’re exploring alternatives that are more modern and better suited for cross-functional teams — still testing things out. Would love to hear how others are working around the collaboration limitations?

Why is Microsoft Project a good alternative to Planview?
I believe Planview is a good alternative to Microsoft Project because it provides a more comprehensive view of project management. Unlike Microsoft Project, Planview allows for strategic planning, portfolio and resource management, and even product innovation, offering a holistic approach to project management. It also offers robust collaboration tools that make team communication more efficient. With its real-time visibility feature, it's easier to monitor the progress of multiple projects and make necessary adjustments on the fly. Additionally, it's cloud-based, making it accessible from anywhere, unlike Microsoft Project that requires installation. Furthermore, Planview is user-friendly with an intuitive interface that simplifies the learning curve for new users. Overall, Planview provides a more versatile and comprehensive solution for managing projects.
What are the differences between Microsoft Project and Planview?
As a user of both Planview and Microsoft Project, I've noticed several key differences. Planview is an enterprise-level project portfolio management tool that provides a comprehensive view of your organization's strategy, investments, and outcomes. It's designed for large-scale projects involving multiple teams and departments. It offers features like resource management, financial planning, and strategic planning.
Microsoft Project, In a slightly different way, is a project management software that's more suited for small to medium-sized projects. It has strong scheduling capabilities and is excellent for creating project timelines and Gantt charts. However, it lacks the strategic planning and portfolio management features found in Planview.
In terms of user experience, Planview leans more towards the complex side due to its extensive features, while Microsoft Project is relatively easier to use. Lastly, pricing varies with Planview being more expensive due to its enterprise-level capabilities.
Asana's platform supports you across work management and project planning. We use Monday for campaign planning, and the mix of kanban, calendar, and dashboard views gives each team what they need without forcing everyone into the same format. Fast Adoption & Simple Workflow Automation
We switched to Slack from Microsoft Teams for one department and the adoption was much faster than I expected. People understood channels and reactions right away, and workflow builder has been surprisingly useful for simple request processes. It is not perfect for long-form documentation, but for day-to-day coordination it is solid

I’ve been using Jira for project management recently, and honestly, it’s just a genuinely good product. When you are managing moving parts and need to keep everything on track, having a tool that is actually useful—rather than just another administrative burden—makes all the difference. One of the biggest surprises for me was the onboarding experience. Powerful project management software usually comes with a reputation for being overly complex, but Jira actually has a very easy learning curve. It’s incredibly easy to learn and understand right out of the gate. You don't have to spend weeks reading documentation to figure out how to set up a sprint or manage a backlog; the core mechanics just make sense. A huge part of why it's so accessible comes down to the front-end experience. It features a really nice, clean user interface that gets out of your own way. I absolutely love the design and the customization options. You can tailor your boards, fields, and workflows to fit your exact operational style, rather than being forced to adapt your process to fit the software. The real magic happens when you start expanding its capabilities. Jira connects seamlessly with just about every other app you might be using. By hooking it up to the rest of your tech stack, it adds so much more functionality, turning it from a simple task tracker into a centralized hub for your entire workflow. Overall, it’s a highly effective platform that successfully balances deep customization with an easy-to-digest design. Highly recommended.
