Datto's Unreliable Warranty: Can We Trust It?
I have been a user of Datto Siris for several years and recently bought an S3B2000 unit for a client to replace their old one and upgrade to a larger data backup. Datto offered a 5-year warranty on the unit. However, when the unit faced an issue and stopped backing up, Datto support decided, without any explanation, that it was not under warranty because it was on a UPS and the UPS battery powered off. I find this decision unreasonable as it's hard to imagine a setup without a UPS and it's common for UPS batteries to die after a few years. Despite several hard power shut offs, the unit failed to connect to the environment, suggesting a defect. Yet, Datto support decided not to honor the warranty without any explanation. I was disappointed with their response. Despite this, I appreciate the product's ease of use and have been using and promoting Datto for over 10 years. I switched to Datto Siris due to the growth of data.

Ever since Kaseya took over Datto-Siris, they've been introducing some exciting new business practices. They've got a firm policy on seat counts, which means stability and consistency for us. They're also open to discussions about temporary increases for specific projects, which shows their flexibility. The billing has been consistently on point, sometimes even more than expected, which is a clear sign of their commitment to providing top-notch services. The account managers are always on their toes, encouraging us to consider 3-year deals on other Kaseya products, which shows their confidence in their offerings. Every time I log into Autotask or Datto RMM, I'm greeted with popups suggesting new things to try or different services to sign up for. It's like a constant reminder of the vast array of services they have to offer, and I appreciate their effort to keep me informed. There's no option to permanently dismiss these notifications, which ensures I'm always up-to-date with their latest offerings.

Datto: The Ultimate Ransomware Insurance
I see Datto as a safeguard against ransomware, with its stop gap feature being a key attraction. The software is of superior quality, possibly the best in the industry. The American-based support team is friendly and highly skilled, and they've never disappointed me. However, there have been times when older OS versions weren't compatible with the backup function, and we've also had problems with backing up desktops. I switched to Datto SIRIS due to poor support and inferior software from my previous provider.
