01 Is ActiveCampaign any Good? My expert Review

Having had enough experience with ActiveCampaign, I can tell you how effective this product as a marketing tool in almost any marketing situation. If you are serious about putting your email marketing efforts on autopilot while getting smarter with your customer connection, then it is worth your time. I recently working on an automated drip campaign for an e-commerce client, and what I liked was that we could quickly personalize our email based on what the customer was doing, which felt like we really dialed in the impact on our conversion rate.

Something that blows me away is the analytics dashboard. Recently, when I was working with a software startup on a campaign, and we had specific stats around our open rate and clicks, it felt like having your own navigation system that could tell you precisely what route your audience wanted to take! That level of detail enabled me to see what was working and what wasn't in order to pivot to maximize return on investment.

That being said, it is not all gravy; the User Interface can be visually overwhelming at first sight for first-time users or small teams that don't have any technical support. ActiveCampaign is certainly powerful, but here's times where I feel like I am walking through a populous downtown city without a map. A cleaner UI or more intuitive navigation would assist small teams in ramping up their use of technology.

Price is another part of the discussion. ActiveCampaign offers a lot of features, but price for some tier levels has escalated rather quickly to premium options like HubSpot. Depending on your use case, is this investment worth it? It may be if you are really using these features as much as possible. I did have a few glitches like it not saving your work, which can be disconcerting when your on a deadline.

Overall, even with those minor issues, I have had a positive experience with ActiveCampaign. For an email marketing system that you want to scale in a controlled, effective way, the features of ActiveCampaign have powerful automation, personalized messaging, analytics, and much more.

04 How ActiveCampaign compare to similar software?

While ActiveCampaign and HubSpot share common CRM and email marketing features, they have several key differences. The main distinction lies in the focus and scope of their integrated tools. ActiveCampaign serves as an email marketing automation platform with a strong sales focus, supported by a dedicated CRM. As a result, it offers advanced email marketing functionality. Accessing ActiveCampaign’s CRM requires a subscription to its sales plan or combined sales/marketing bundle. On the other hand, HubSpot is a CRM platform offering several other hubs, including marketing, sales, service, operations, content management, and commerce. HubSpot automatically includes its CRM in most of its hubs, which integrate seamlessly with each other. This makes HubSpot a good tool for sharing information between departments.

Email limits are another key difference between ActiveCampaign and HubSpot. ActiveCampaign generously offers unlimited email sends for up to 250,000 contacts on all its...

ActiveCampaign and Mailchimp offer valuable features to automate your email marketing campaigns, elevating them to the next level. However, there are several key differences to consider when deciding which is best for your business. First is the pricing. While Mailchimp may initially appear to be the more affordable option, it pays to drill down into both platforms’ pricing structures for an accurate comparison.

Although ActiveCampaign doesn’t offer a free version, it includes free trials with each plan. Plus, ActiveCampaigns plans generously include unlimited email sends for up to 250,000 contacts. These distinct pricing approaches mean Mailchimp may be more affordable for smaller email lists, such as for solopreneurs and small businesses. Yet, as these lists grow, the price difference between the platforms shrinks, especially considering ActiveCampaign’s generous email send limits.

Another key difference is that ActiveCampaign offers a dedicated CRM. Although you need to...

Smooth Migration Tools and Reliable Support

Support has been good in the moments that mattered, and the migration tools saved us time when we switched. We also came in with a heavily reduced annual price for year one through Joinsecret, which helped offset the time spent setting everything up

Site Tracking and Lead Scoring That Qualifies Leads

I originally picked ActiveCampaign because I found a first-year annual discount through Joinsecret that made it much easier to justify. Glad I did, because the site tracking and lead scoring have helped us separate casual visitors from people who are actually ready to talk

Forms + Automations + Pipeline in One Growth System

What surprised me was how much value we got from combining forms, automations, and the sales pipeline in one system. Leads from content downloads now enter a nurture track automatically, and our team gets notified when someone becomes sales qualified. We happened to get the first year annual plan at around 90% off through Joinsecret, and that made testing the platform a pretty easy decision

Steep Learning Curve, Big Payoff With Goals

There is a learning curve, especially if you want to use tags, goals, and conditional paths properly, but once that clicks, it becomes very powerful. We use goals to move contacts forward when they convert, so they stop getting irrelevant messages

Powerful Segmentation for More Personal Campaigns

The segmentation is where it really earns its keep. We built lists based on product usage, webinar attendance, and purchase history, and that made our campaigns feel a lot less generic. Reporting could go deeper in a few places, but it gives us enough to make good decisions

A/B Testing Automation Paths for Data-Driven Iteration

I also got ActiveCampaign through that Joinsecret 90% off deal, and it was a nice bonus, but the real win is how easy it is to A/B test subject lines and different paths inside an automation, we finally stopped guessing and started iterating based on data
