More Value, More Features Elsewhere: A Look at Grasshopper
Grasshopper is okay for basic phone features, but as my business expanded, I found it too restrictive. My biggest gripe is that Grasshopper doesn't let you export or backup your text messages. They even claimed to delete all my text message history right after I ported out my numbers. This doesn't make sense from a software design perspective, especially since text messages take up negligible storage space. The price is reasonable and Grasshopper is easy to find due to their extensive advertising. However, there are better value systems out there, but they're harder to find as they don't advertise as much. I wish Grasshopper would invest more in feature development rather than marketing. I recently switched to TalkRoute because Grasshopper lacks call recording and a multi-level greeting menu. I initially chose Grasshopper for its lower cost, but I strongly recommend TalkRoute instead. It's slightly more expensive but offers more features and is just as easy to use.

I've been a Grasshopper user for over three years and haven't felt the need to switch. I have a toll-free line that lets my customers reach me easily across Canada. Grasshopper provides many features that I find beneficial as a small business owner, such as setting working hours and pre-scheduling messages, which helps me manage my time more effectively. The setup took a while, but other than that, Grasshopper has been performing as expected. I haven't run into any problems so far. After researching various companies, I chose Grasshopper because it offered the best value for my money.

I appreciate that Grasshopper doesn't require any hardware or complex setup. I find it easy to route multiple extensions to different employee numbers and customize greetings and hold music. I like that employees can hear the number before accepting the call and have the option to send it to voicemail. The web interface seems a bit outdated, but it's not frequently needed. I would prefer to see live reports and charts in the web interface, rather than having to run and download the reports as CSVs. I received a response from the vendor thanking me for my 5-star review and assuring me that my suggestion would be shared with their product team.
