My top 3 CapCut alternatives
By Frédéric Laffont, Chief Technology Officer
Adobe Premiere Pro
If you want to edit timelines that are far more than "cut this" or "template that", then Premiere Pro is my go-to tool when working with multiple cameras, editing the audio, and using all of Adobe's workflow tools. Here's an example of how I'd cut a 3-camera interview: First, I'd get each camera angle to be synced up. Then, I would take some time to quickly color-grade the video. Next, I could export a portion of the video as a dynamic link in After Effects so I could add motion graphics to the project without having to export the entire thing. In terms of review loops, the ability to use Frame.io collaboration on the plan helps make approvals easier than emailing a bunch of different exported versions back-and-forth. The price of the single application plan is $22.99/month (billed monthly).
Filmora
Filmora fits when I want a desktop editor with a shorter learning curve than pro NLEs, but still need features like motion tracking and text keyframing. I also like that it offers multiple licensing approaches: a Monthly Plan (US$19.99), an Annual Plan (as low as US$49.99/year), and a Perpetual Plan (as low as US$79.99 one-time) for a specific version. The store flow also calls out add-ons like Silence Detection and AI Portrait.
Submagic
Submagic is where I go when the job is “turn one long recording into platform-ready shorts” and captions are the main deliverable. It’s built around AI auto-captions with customizable styles, auto-sync to speech, and one-click export, then layers in short-form utilities like hook titles, clean audio, removing bad takes and silences, and publishing to TikTok/YouTube/Instagram. Its Starter plan is $19/member/month for 15 videos up to 2 minutes (1080p, 30 FPS), while Business adds 4K/60 FPS and an API.

Proposal for Adobe: Lightroom Compatibility with Older Macs
I'm really excited to reach out to Adobe with a suggestion that I believe could benefit many users like myself! Over the Christmas period, I found out that Lightroom now requires the latest OSX. This got me thinking - wouldn't it be fantastic if Adobe could release a version of Lightroom that works on older Macs? I have a 212 Mac with upgraded hardware that ran Lightroom flawlessly. I'm sure there are many others in the same boat. It would be such a game-changer if we could continue to use our trusty machines to edit our photos without having to invest in a new one. Also, I must say, the move to a subscription-only service is quite innovative. It's a great way to ensure we always have the latest updates and features. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Adobe continues to evolve and cater to the needs of its diverse user base!

Why is Adobe Premiere Pro a good alternative to CapCut?
I recommend Premiere Pro most for freelancers, in-house video teams, and agencies delivering client work where “good enough for TikTok” isn’t the bar. If you’re juggling multi-camera shoots, frequent revisions, and brand standards, Premiere’s multi-camera editing and audio mixing tools are simply built for that reality. The Creative Cloud ecosystem matters in practice: Dynamic Link lets motion graphics live in After Effects while staying editable from the Premiere timeline, and Media Encoder-style export workflows fit teams that need multiple deliverables (16:9, 9:16, different bitrates) without re-editing. I also like that the plan’s inclusion of Frame.io pushes approvals into a structured review loop, which is usually where creator teams lose the most time when they rely on ad-hoc file sharing.

Why is Filmora a good alternative to CapCut?
Filmora is a strong alternative for solo creators, small businesses, and educators who want desktop editing with real features but don’t want to live inside a pro NLE all day. If your work is YouTube explainers, product demos, or simple brand videos, Filmora’s motion tracking and text keyframing cover a lot of “modern editing” needs without forcing you into a complex panel-heavy workflow. The pricing flexibility is also practical: you can start monthly, commit annually for a lower effective price, or choose a perpetual license when you prefer a one-time purchase tied to a specific version. I find the add-on structure useful for targeted problems (Silence Detection for talking-head pacing, AI Portrait for background removal) instead of paying for a huge suite you won’t use.
What are the differences between Filmora and CapCut?
CapCut Pro is primarily a subscription upgrade that unlocks premium creative assets (templates, effects, filters, body effects) and 100GB cloud storage for cross-device project access, with a monthly vs yearly commitment choice. Filmora is more of a classic desktop editor purchase decision: it advertises Monthly, Annual, and Perpetual (one-time fee) options, and the Perpetual License is explicitly tied to the specific version you bought (future versions require a new plan). Feature-wise, Filmora highlights practical editing helpers like motion tracking and text keyframing, plus optional add-ons such as Silence Detection (for cutting pauses) and AI Portrait (background removal without green screen). If you want ownership-style licensing or a simpler desktop-first workflow, Filmora’s model is notably different from CapCut’s cloud-and-assets subscription framing.

Why is Submagic a good alternative to CapCut?
Submagic is the alternative I’d pick for social media managers, podcasters, coaches, and agencies running a repeatable shorts pipeline where captions, pacing, and platform formatting are the core deliverables. It’s designed around the tasks that usually eat time in CapCut: styling subtitles consistently, syncing them cleanly, removing awkward silences, and adding short-form “hooks” that improve retention. The plan limits (videos per month and max minutes per video) make it easier to forecast cost for a content calendar, and the Brand Kit + caption templates help keep output consistent across a team. If you’re producing at scale, Business + API is the differentiator: 4K/60 FPS export plus API/integration minutes is aimed at operationalizing video production, not just editing a single clip.
What are the differences between Submagic and CapCut?
CapCut is a general-purpose editor (desktop/online/mobile) where Pro focuses on unlocking premium templates/effects plus 100GB cloud storage, so you can keep full projects available across devices. Submagic is narrower and more operational: it’s an AI captioning-and-shorts production pipeline with explicit usage caps by plan (for example, Starter includes 15 videos/month up to 2 minutes; Pro includes 40 videos/month up to 5 minutes; Business includes 100 videos/month up to 30 minutes). Submagic also bakes in “shorts-specific” steps that CapCut treats as manual editing tasks: generating hook titles, cleaning audio, removing bad takes/silences, and publishing directly to TikTok/YouTube/Instagram. On the high end, Submagic’s Business tier adds API & integrations (100 min/month) and 4K/60 FPS exports, which pushes it toward scalable, repeatable content ops rather than project-by-project editing.

Viral presets
I look after content for a fitness brand across TikTok and Instagram, and we'd hit a wall with engagement for a while. I started dropping Higgsfield's Viral Presets onto clips of our athletes, things like the CGI Breakdown and Kung Fu Hit effects, and within the first week the numbers started moving again. The presets are straightforward enough that you don't need any real video production background to use them, and the results look polished enough that other creators in the space started sliding into our DMs asking what we were using.
