When developing an application as a multi-tenanted B2B Software-as-a-Service, Stytch has provided a clean mapping of the way my application functions. This includes the Organizations, Sessions and Role-Based Access Control within the same platform. I am pleased to see that I can implement Organization level Primary / Secondary Authentication Policies. And use Just-In-Time Provisioning Controls (by Email Domain and by SSO Connection), which enable new Enterprise customers to onboard using the built-in invite functionality – Without having to develop custom "Invite" Plumbing.
Firebase
For consumer apps (especially mobile), I reach for Firebase because the provider menu is practical: email/password, email link, phone number, and federated logins like Google, Apple, GitHub, and Microsoft. I also like that multi-factor isn’t an afterthought (SMS MFA and TOTP MFA are documented paths), and I can drive authorization with custom claims in ID tokens. On pricing, phone auth is billed per SMS, while “other authentication services” can be used with Identity Platform, with no-cost MAUs up to 50K (and SAML/OIDC up to 50 MAUs).
Okta
When the requirement is “enterprise CIAM with procurement-friendly terms,” I look at Okta because the Customer Identity offering is positioned around an Enterprise base platform and formal SLAs. The published starting point is $3,000 per month (billed annually), and it explicitly calls out unlimited OIDC and outbound SAML apps plus a 99.99% uptime guarantee. I also pay attention to operational limits: the Integrator Free Plan notes a default rate limit of 100 authentications/minute, while paid plans start at 600 authentications/minute with a DynamicScale add-on available.

I like that the baseline product vocabulary is built around Organizations and org-level policies, so I can model each customer as an org, then attach SSO connections (and optionally SCIM) to that org instead of inventing my own abstraction. The free tier is unusually concrete for early-stage products: 10,000 MAUs, unlimited organizations, 5 SSO/SCIM connections, and 1,000 M2M tokens, so I can test real enterprise workflows before I’m forced into a contract conversation. Firebase is the alternative I choose when I want authentication to feel like another app SDK, not a separate identity product with its own mental model. If I’m building iOS/Android/web clients, I can mix email link auth, phone number sign-in, and common OAuth providers (Google, Apple, GitHub, Microsoft) without designing a custom protocol surface area. For authorization, I lean on custom claims in ID tokens and manage sessions via session cookies when needed, which keeps the “authn vs authz” boundary very code-centric. On cost control, it’s helpful that the pricing page separates phone auth (billed per SMS) from other auth services with Identity Platform, and it explicitly lists a no-cost MAU allowance up to 50K (plus a small no-cost tier for SAML/OIDC MAUs).
What are the differences between Firebase and Auth0?

Okta is a good Auth0 alternative when the buyer is an enterprise security org that wants the identity layer packaged as a base platform with contractual guarantees. The pricing page is clear that Customer Identity starts with an Enterprise base platform at $3,000/month billed annually, and it emphasizes enterprise-grade SLAs (including a 99.99% uptime guarantee). That’s attractive when I’m supporting RFP language that literally asks for uptime commitments and formal support plans. Okta also feels designed for environments with a lot of app integration surface area: the base benefits include unlimited OIDC and outbound SAML apps and “robust Okta APIs,” which maps well to portfolios that include both modern and legacy apps. Finally, if I expect high authentication throughput, I appreciate that Okta publishes default authentication rate limits (100/min on the Integrator Free Plan, 600/min on paid plans) and explicitly points to DynamicScale as the lever to raise them.

Excellent Tool for Diverse Business Infrastructure Management
I value Jumpcloud for its ability to strengthen our security control, ensuring that when we suspend a user, they are truly suspended. I particularly like how it enables us to manage a broad range of computers, provides a central IDP for LDAP and Radius, and simplifies the process of provisioning computers and users. However, I do feel the lack of ability to control apps outside of DEP with Macs, such as Chrome and Google Drive, as well as Linux app control. I selected JumpCloud Directory Platform for its superior computer control and provisioning across Linux, Windows, and Mac. The decision to switch to JumpCloud was also influenced by its more cohesive product offering and cloud-based nature.

I reached out to Bitwarden's sales team a few times and was pleasantly surprised by their prompt initial response. They were keen to know about the number of users in my company. After informing them that we have 23 users, they took some time to respond, which I believe was due to them preparing a tailored solution for a company of our size. Meanwhile, I also contacted a competitor, who replied within two hours and had three calls with us to answer our queries and assist with the transition. However, I am still looking forward to Bitwarden's detailed response, as I believe they are taking the time to provide us with a comprehensive solution. I am quite optimistic about Bitwarden's customer service.
