My top 3 Google Calendar alternatives
By Shubhashree Halder, Content Manager
I have been examining different options instead of Google Calendar and found three that stand out: Calendly, Notion, and Asana.
Calendly
Calendly is a scheduling tool that makes setting up meetings easier by eliminating all those back-and-forth emails. It syncs directly with your calendar, checks when you're free, and lets others easily book appointments based on your availability. If you're a consultant, Calendly allows your clients to quickly schedule meetings right into your calendar without any hassle.
If you're currently using Google Calendar and looking for something more streamlined, Calendly is a great alternative. It integrates smoothly with Google Calendar (as well as other popular calendar tools), making it easy to manage your schedule in one place. I appreciate Calendly's intuitive interface, simplicity, and the convenience it brings to scheduling appointments. On the whole, it's a reliable and user-friendly option worth considering if you want to simplify your appointment booking process.
Notion
Notion is an all-in-one workspace where you can write, plan, collaborate, and get organized. It's more than just a calendar; it's a powerful tool that combines notes, tasks, wikis, and databases. You can use it to plan your projects, keep track of your tasks, and even create a personal wiki of notes and documents. For example, if you're working on a project with a team, you can use Notion to keep everyone on the same page.
Asana
Asana is a project management tool that helps teams organize and manage their work. It includes a calendar view that lets you see all your tasks and deadlines in one place. You can use it to assign tasks to team members, set deadlines, and track progress. If you're managing a large project with many moving parts, Asana can help you keep everything under control.

Exploring Calendly: A User-Friendly Event Scheduling Tool
I've been working on setting up my event on Calendly and have found the instructional video to be quite informative. I've noticed that my event shows as busy, which is a great feature to prevent double booking. I appreciate how they've anticipated potential issues and provided solutions in their help section. It's impressive how the company has managed to streamline their operations without a traditional support department. Their self-help resources are comprehensive and cover a wide range of topics. It's a testament to their commitment to user-friendly design and functionality.

Why is Calendly a good alternative to Google Calendar?
I find Google Calendar to be a great alternative to Calendly due to its easy-to-use interface and wide range of features. It seamlessly integrates with my Gmail account, which makes scheduling and receiving notifications a breeze. Google Calendar allows for the creation of multiple calendars, each with their own color coding, making it easier for me to differentiate between personal and professional events. Another advantage is the ability to share my calendar with others, enabling collaborative scheduling. This feature is especially useful for team projects or family planning. Google Calendar also offers mobile apps for both iOS and Android, allowing me to manage my schedule on-the-go. With its robust set of features, I believe Google Calendar is an excellent alternative to Calendly.
What are the differences between Calendly and Google Calendar?
I use both Google Calendar and Calendly, and I find that they serve different objectives. Google Calendar is a scheduling tool that allows me to manage my personal and professional appointments. I can create events, invite others, set reminders, and view my schedule at a glance. It's a great tool for organizing my time.
Alternatively, Calendly is designed to simplify the process of scheduling meetings with others. Instead of going back and forth to find a mutually convenient time, I can share my Calendly link with available slots based on my preferences. The other person can then pick a time that works for them. Once selected, the event is automatically added to both our calendars.
So while Google Calendar helps me manage my own schedule, Calendly makes it easier to coordinate schedules with others.

Notion has been nothing short of a complete life saver for me, I use it for everything and in the age of AI it has become even more useful with MCP and its native integrations. For example, I have an outreach bot that I run through Claude, using Notion as the backend and CRM to track everything. I use notion as my project management software as well and its easy integration with all my tools and knowledge base! Could not recommend it more

Why is Notion a good alternative to Google Calendar?
I find Google Calendar a great alternative to Notion for several reasons. Firstly, it's free and integrated with other Google services. This means it syncs seamlessly with Gmail, Google Tasks, and Google Keep, providing a unified platform for managing tasks, events, and notes. Secondly, its interface is simpler and more intuitive than Notion's. It's easy to add events or reminders, view my schedule at a glance, and share calendars with others.
Another advantage is that Google Calendar works offline, which isn't the case with Notion. I can access my calendar even when I don't have an internet connection. Lastly, Google Calendar has advanced features like setting goals and finding time slots for meetings based on participants' availability. These features make it a powerful tool for personal productivity and team collaboration.
What are the differences between Notion and Google Calendar?
When i compare Google Calendar and Notion, they serve different purposes but can work together to create a productive workflow. Google Calendar is primarily a scheduling tool, where I can set reminders for meetings, deadlines, and personal events. It's straightforward and syncs across all devices, making it easy to keep track of my schedule.
On the other hand, Notion is more of a workspace that allows me to take notes, manage tasks, and create databases. It's more flexible and customizable than Google Calendar, allowing me to organize my work in the way that suits me best. However, it lacks the native calendar syncing capabilities that Google Calendar has.
So while Google Calendar excels at scheduling and time management, Notion shines in project management and note-taking. They both have their strengths and can be used together for a comprehensive productivity system.

Why is Asana a good alternative to Google Calendar?
I have found Google Calendar to be a great alternative to Asana for several reasons. Firstly, it's free and integrated with other Google services like Gmail and Google Drive, making it highly accessible and convenient. Secondly, it's user-friendly with its intuitive design, allowing me to easily schedule events, set reminders, and share calendars with others. Thirdly, I can access it on any device - be it a smartphone, tablet or computer. Lastly, it has a seamless synchronization feature that ensures I'm always updated with my schedule. While Asana offers more advanced project management features, if you're looking for a simple, reliable and cost-effective tool for time management and scheduling, Google Calendar is an excellent choice.
What are the differences between Asana and Google Calendar?
I've found that Google Calendar and Asana, while both excellent tools for organization and productivity, serve slightly different goals. Google Calendar is primarily a scheduling tool. It allows me to create events, set reminders, and share my schedule with others. On the other hand, Asana is a project management tool designed for teams. It helps me to plan projects, assign tasks, set deadlines, and track progress.
The major difference between the two lies in their functionality. While Google Calendar focuses more on time management, Asana is more about task management. Asana provides a more detailed overview of projects and tasks, including their status and who's responsible for them. However, Google Calendar excels at providing a clear visual representation of my schedule.
Overall, both are complementary tools that can be used together effectively for managing personal and professional life.

Why is Calendar a good alternative to Google Calendar?
I find Calendar to be an excellent alternative to Google Calendar for several reasons. Firstly, the interface is clean and intuitive, making it easy to navigate and manage my schedule. Secondly, Calendar offers unique features such as artificial intelligence that learns from my scheduling behavior and subsequently provides smart suggestions for when to schedule future events. Additionally, it has a time zone converter which is extremely useful for coordinating meetings with colleagues in different parts of the world. Another benefit is its seamless integration with other platforms like Slack and Zoom, thereby enhancing productivity. Lastly, Calendar offers a comprehensive free version which includes many of the advanced features, making it a cost-effective choice. Therefore, I consider Calendar a superior option for managing my time effectively.
What are the differences between Calendar and Google Calendar?
In my opinion the primary difference between a traditional calendar and Google Calendar lies in their functionality and convenience. A traditional calendar is a physical entity, often paper-based, that requires manual updates and doesn't offer reminders or alerts. On the other hand, Google Calendar is a digital tool that can be accessed from any device with an internet connection. It offers features like event reminders, sharing capabilities, and the ability to sync with other digital calendars. This makes it more interactive and user-friendly.
Moreover, Google Calendar allows for color-coding of events, repeating events, and even attaching files to specific events - features that are impossible with a traditional calendar. However, a traditional calendar does not require internet access or technological know-how to use, making it more accessible for some people. In conclusion, while both have their merits, Google Calendar offers more advanced features aimed at enhancing organization and productivity.

Why is Microsoft Outlook a good alternative to Google Calendar?
I find Microsoft Outlook to be a great alternative to Google Calendar for several reasons. Firstly, Outlook integrates seamlessly with other Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, making it easier to manage tasks and appointments in one place. Secondly, it offers advanced features such as meeting room booking, task management, and contact organization that are not available in Google Calendar. Thirdly, Outlook's interface is more professional and customizable, allowing me to tailor it to my specific needs. Lastly, Outlook provides better privacy and security measures compared to Google Calendar. It uses enterprise-grade security and complies with global standards, ensuring that my data is safe and secure.
What are the differences between Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar?
I have used both Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar extensively and found several differences between the two. Firstly, Microsoft Outlook is more than just a calendar; it's an all-in-one email, calendar, task manager, and contact manager tool. Google Calendar, on the other hand, is primarily a calendar tool that integrates well with other Google services like Gmail and Google Tasks.
Secondly, Outlook offers more advanced features such as shared mailboxes, scheduling assistant, and integration with Microsoft Teams. Google Calendar is simpler and more user-friendly, with features like color-coded events and natural language event creation. It also offers seamless integration with Google Meet for video conferencing.
Lastly, while both offer mobile apps, Outlook's app combines email and calendar functions into one app, whereas Google has separate apps for Gmail and Calendar. The choice between the two often depends on personal preference and the ecosystem you're most invested in.
