01 Is Rocket Lawyer any Good? My expert Review
I’ve used Rocket Lawyer for about 11 months as an independent consultant, and I really can’t say if I’m glad I signed up for Rocket Lawyer or not.
Rocket Lawyer’s document templates are very convenient. In less than twenty minutes I was able to create a non-disclosure agreement for a new contractor in March of this year. Although I don’t have any experience with law, the templates were easy to use, and the step-by-step instructions helped me through each section.
I believe the $40/month fee for the Rocket Lawyer service is pretty reasonable when I am actively drafting contracts and/or agreements. However, when I have slow periods and I am not producing many contracts and/or agreements, I sometimes wonder if I’m getting value for the money I pay each month. The concept of the attorney consultation is something I thought would be very valuable. Unfortunately, the thirty minute call I received on a potential trademark issue left me feeling hurried, so I ultimately sought additional information/consultation from another attorney.
What I do appreciate about Rocket Lawyer is its document storage system. It allows all of your documents to be easily accessed and stored together. I also found it to be extremely helpful when one of my clients asked to see the original service agreement we drafted six months ago. Additionally, I like that Rocket Lawyer offers state specific versions of many templates; however, I think that there are some templates that are fairly generic and require you to make significant customizations.
Rocket Lawyer is good for the routine creation of basic legal documents and for many general business needs, but should never be relied upon to provide you with the same level of expertise and quality of service that a qualified attorney would provide for complex issues.
