I've tried more project management tools over the years than I care to share. However, my favorite one so far has to be Asana, since it made organizing and managing tasks easy and helped keep everyone aligned. I find the interface easy to use and something that just about anyone can slim into - even those without any significant experience with digital project management. After introducing it to a small marketing agency, we quickly stopped using spreadsheets and threads of emails and used it, and it was a significant improvement on efficiency and productivity from the start.
One of things I like best about Asana is the transparency of task management. For instance, during our most recent product launch, we could break everything into subtasks, deadlines were easy to set, and every file we needed could be attached directly into the task. This allows everyone to stay aligned and reduced confusion.
As much as I brag about Asana, it is not without fault. If you are managing larger projects with substantial dependencies or need a more robust reporting functionality, it is likely going to feel limited compared with a product such as Monday or ClickUp. Furthermore, some of the more useful features require an upgrade to a paid plan - which is something every small team cannot justify.
Overall, I think Asana is a great tool for small to medium teams looking for simple, effective communication that will keep your team and work moving along without the headache of complex software. It integrates well into other tools too, such as Slack and Google Drive, which is helpful when performing everyday tasks.
