Reviewing Kaltura Video Platform: A User's Perspective
I find Kaltura to be a generally good experience, although it could benefit from a few more features and details. I am satisfied with my experience, but it's important to note that an excellent internet connection is necessary.

Kaltura: A User's Dream, An Admin's Nightmare
I find Kaltura to be a valuable tool that integrates seamlessly with Canvas LMS, allowing both teachers and students to upload and publish videos. I especially appreciate the In-Video Quizzing feature, which prompts students to answer a quiz question before they can continue watching a video. However, I am extremely disappointed with Kaltura's customer service, as they are the worst at responding to emails and fulfilling customer requests among all the technologies I manage for Utah Valley University. I once sent an email to their customer support and cc'd our customer success manager and technical rep over a month ago, but I have yet to receive any response. Additionally, the Kaltura Management Console (KMC) is all Flash based, which feels outdated in 2016. Despite these issues, I believe it's a great product for end users, especially with its integration with Canvas LMS.

Exploring the Features and Functionality of the Kaltura Video Platform: A User's Perspective
I'm thrilled to share my experience with Kaltura/NewRow, the new software my organization has adopted. I've been a long-time user of Zoom/Canvas, which was a great platform for uploading my Powerpoints for student access. Kaltura, however, offers a different approach, focusing on simplicity and ease of use. While it doesn't support animations, it encourages me to explore other creative ways to engage my students. One of the unique features I've discovered is the breakout room. It's a different experience as I can't monitor the main room while in a breakout room, which allows me to focus more on the group I'm working with. There have been a few instances where I couldn't enter the breakout rooms, but I'm confident that Kaltura is working on this as I've reported it. Navigating through the program is a new experience, it's a bit different but I'm getting the hang of it. It's like a fun puzzle, figuring out the quickest way to get to where I need to be. I've also noticed that I can only interact with a student if they've used the chat before, which encourages more student participation. Overall, it's been an exciting journey of discovery and learning. Many of my colleagues have expressed their nostalgia for Blackboard, the platform we used before Kaltura. But I'm optimistic and looking forward to seeing how Kaltura will evolve and improve in response to our feedback.
