Bitwarden
For teams using shared access to SaaS Accounts, SSH Keys, or API Tokens, Bitwarden has been a great choice for me as an organization can come together in a short time with organizations, collections, groups and permissions (Role Based Access Control). I also appreciate that I can enable Directory Sync and SCIM Provisioning so that there aren't "ghost" user accounts when employees leave. The Password Generator and Built-In Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP) Authenticator provide all I need to accomplish 90 percent of what I do on a day-to-day basis. Additionally, If I want to perform automation on the passwords stored within Bitwarden then I have two choices available to me; the Bitwarden CLI and Encrypted Json Export.
Dashlane
Dashlane, I keep it in mind when the topic is not just about “storing passwords” but “reducing risk.” I mainly use the Admin Console (policies) and the SSO (SAML) + SCIM integrations. For offers focused on “credential security,” contextual alerts and risk signals (dark web monitoring, phishing detection) are the real differentiator. Note: since September 16, 2025, there is no longer a free personal plan.
Keeper Security
Keeper catches my attention as soon as I move beyond the classic “password manager” scope. For sharing, I rely on Shared Folders, RBAC, and One-Time Share (external link, time-limited, no account required). For IT/DevOps teams, Keeper Secrets Manager adds “secrets” logic (SDK/REST/Commander CLI) with rotation and integrations such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions. And for SMB budgets, the difference is clear: Keeper Business typically starts at a much lower price point than 1Password Business.

Experiencing Bitwarden's Customer Service: A Personal Account
I reached out to Bitwarden's sales team a few times and was pleasantly surprised by their prompt initial response. They were keen to know about the number of users in my company. After informing them that we have 23 users, they took some time to respond, which I believe was due to them preparing a tailored solution for a company of our size. Meanwhile, I also contacted a competitor, who replied within two hours and had three calls with us to answer our queries and assist with the transition. However, I am still looking forward to Bitwarden's detailed response, as I believe they are taking the time to provide us with a comprehensive solution. I am quite optimistic about Bitwarden's customer service.

Why is Bitwarden a good alternative to 1Password?
I recommend Bitwarden to product/ops teams who want a “predictable” password manager to operate: either in the cloud or self-hosted (useful when there are data residency constraints). For an admin, the points that save me time are concrete: SCIM provisioning, Directory Sync, fine-grained RBAC (down to permissions such as hiding passwords or setting read-only access), and Collections to segment access by team (support, finance, dev). For developers, the CLI avoids copy-pasting in Slack channels, and Bitwarden Send does a good job of covering ephemeral sharing (text/files). And if the company wants to deploy clients at scale, deployment support via MDM (Intune/GPO) is a straightforward argument to make.

Why is Dashlane a good alternative to 1Password?
I find Dashlane relevant for an organization where the main issue is employee credential hygiene (re-use, weak passwords, exposure in breaches), more than the “beauty” of the vault. The SAML SSO + SCIM integrations help me connect Dashlane to the IdP and automate the joiner/mover/leaver cycle without tinkering. Where Dashlane makes a difference for me is the detection/alerting features: dark web monitoring, breach alerts, and, in the security-focused offerings, phishing signals with contextual notifications. I also appreciate the “admin” approach (policies, roles, recovery assistance based on login method) because it prevents those “I lost my master password” tickets from turning into a crisis.

Why is Keeper Security a good alternative to 1Password?
I recommend Keeper when a security/IT team wants to consolidate several needs: password vault, controlled sharing, and management of secrets and more “infra” access. The One-Time Share is useful for contractors: I give a time-limited link without creating an account, and I revoke it when the mission is over. Internally, Shared Folders + RBAC + enforcement policies allow you to limit who can share, edit, or export. For DevOps, Keeper Secrets Manager is the real advantage: access via SDK/REST/Commander CLI, CI/CD integrations (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), IaC (Terraform), and platforms (Kubernetes, Docker), plus automated rotation (time/event-based) to avoid secrets lingering in environment variables or config files. And if the company has a PAM need, modules like Connection Manager (recorded sessions) and JIT privilege change the scope of the project.

Why is LastPass a good alternative to 1Password?
I find 1Password to be a great alternative to LastPass based on several factors. Firstly, 1Password offers a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to navigate and manage passwords. It also has a strong focus on security, with end-to-end encryption and zero-knowledge architecture ensuring that only the user can access their data. Secondly, 1Password provides a unique feature called Travel Mode, which temporarily removes sensitive data from your devices when you travel. This adds an extra layer of security during potentially vulnerable times. Lastly, it supports a wide range of platforms and browsers, including less common ones like Linux and Chrome OS. While both LastPass and 1Password have similar features, I believe that 1Password's additional security measures and broader platform support make it a superior choice.
