Fathom AI Pricing Plans

Fathom is using an extremely simple way of showing their pricing; They have four different levels of service. The first level is a "Forever Free" version, which is great for anyone looking to start with a cost-free product. Their other three pricing options are Premium ($16-$19 per user), Team ($14-$15 per user minimum of 2 users), and Business (approximately $20-$28 per user).

Personally, I am recommending that the "Free" option be the first choice for most of the customers. I think it is really cool that they allow unlimited recordings and transcriptions, however, I do feel that the 5 calls per month limitation for advanced AI capabilities (such as their polished summaries) can be a bit frustrating when you have a busy week. For the more experienced users who would like to have polished summaries on each and every one of their calls, along with being able to utilize "Ask Fathom," I recommend the Premium option ($16-$19 per user).

For the Teams option (usually $14-$15 per user, minimum of two users), I feel that the collaborative feature of the Teams option creates value in terms of collaboration. In my view, the ability to have a library of all calls, searchable by all members of the team, is where the Teams option begins to pay for itself in the form of time savings. Finally, I recommend the Business option (approximately $20-$28 per user) for sales teams who take their CRM seriously. In my opinion, the automated CRM field syncing and AI scoring for coaching purposes are what sets the Business option apart from your average note taker, making it a true revenue generating tool.

Personally, I feel that for most small teams, the "Teams" tier will provide them with the appropriate amount of sharing features, without breaking the bank of an enterprise grade sales tool.

We feel that there is simply one advantage to Fathom AI that will make the most significant impact on your business. It's the first 'delete' button for all the after meeting admin tasks.

The largest benefit in our eyes is not that Fathom records your calls, but how it addresses the 'signal vs. noise' issue. The 'Ask Fathom' option is an industry changer as opposed to having to read a 40 minute call transcript and asking a question like "What was the last budget we agreed upon?" and getting an immediate response.

We recommend Fathom due to its impressive capabilities with regard to the recognition of accent and the recognition of jargon. This is where many of the other AI tools fail and create their own "hallucinations".

To me, the ability to be completely present during a conversation (without having to frantically write notes or type) completely changes the atmosphere of your meetings. I have noticed that when you use a tool such as Fathom, you become a much better listener, and your clients and colleagues will take notice of the difference.

If you spend more than 3 hours per day in Zoom or Teams, then not using a tool like Fathom is essentially equivalent to working in slow motion.

I firmly believe that Fathom is well worth it for the piece of mind alone to know that all of your action items are being recorded without you having to lift a finger.

When you consider who will be most successful using Fathom AI, it's less about what your title is and more about how much time you spend "searching" for information from previous conversations on a daily basis. In our experience, Sales and Customer Success teams are the absolute ideal user group for Fathom AI.

We believe the Business Plan was designed for the sales representative that is sick and tired of manually entering data into their CRM. The ability to automatically send meeting summaries directly to HubSpot or Salesforce is a huge advantage in terms of improving productivity. We also recommend Fathom AI for Product Managers that want to gather the "voice of the customer", but do not have the time to take notes while conducting interviews.

If you're a Consultant or an owner of an Agency, we believe you would be an ideal candidate as well. We believe having a searchable "paper trail" for all client approvals and scope changes is the ultimate insurance policy.

If you're a Manager or a Department lead, we suggest purchasing the Team tier for Fathom AI. This allows all of your team's calls to become a shared library of information. In our opinion, this is one of the best ways to help new employees learn the ropes of a project or get updates on a project without needing to sit in on every single call via Zoom.

The decision to invest in Fathom is directly tied to what you place a high value on – specifically your time and your concentration.

If you spend over 50% of your workday in virtual meetings, I believe you can expect an immediate return on investment from using Fathom. The value extends beyond the AI’s ability to transcribe meetings; rather, I believe it is in the psychological effect of eliminating the need to multitask. For me personally, I feel more connected to my clients when I’m able to maintain direct eye contact and stay fully engaged in conversation, while simultaneously trusting that the AI will capture the nuances and follow up points of the conversation.

I highly recommend Fathom for anyone who has trouble recalling specifics after a meeting (a common issue referred to as “post-meeting amnesia”) as the AI summaries generated after each meeting are far more reliable than a human recalling details after 3 hours.

While the paid options for Fathom do require a monthly subscription fee, I believe this fee is more than made up for by the numerous hours saved in manually entering meeting notes into customer relationship management systems (CRMs) or creating follow up emails.

For teams, I believe the shared library aspect of Fathom allows individual conversations to become searchable assets, and I believe this is invaluable for organizations looking to scale their businesses. If you don’t often attend meetings, or prefer writing things down so you can better retain memories, then I would say Fathom is likely one of the most practical “productivity multipliers” available on the market today.

Although Fathom has shown four options on their pricing pages, when it comes down to what people actually use it is very binary.

Based on our research, the majority of users (freelancers, students, casual corporate employees) choose the free version of the tool based on the "unlimited recording" feature which I believe is genius on Fathom's part because it eliminates the time constraint that is present in competing products such as Otter. Many users of the free version will continue to use it since it provides all of the necessary transcription capabilities, however, a large percentage of users will eventually be influenced to upgrade to a paid version due to the 5 summary per month limit on advanced AI features.

When it comes to paying for Fathom, we believe the most common version that teams of 2 or more will pay for is the Team version. A single user typically finds the jump from free to premium too expensive for the benefits provided by the premium version. For a team of two or more, the ability to store and search through a library together, using folders to organize their recordings, is a big value proposition for the cost of the Team version. Based on our research, we believe that the Team version is the "Goldilocks" version for most small to mid sized teams. It provides enough collective memory and organization for the members of a team to have access to all of the information that they need without having to spend the enterprise level money for the Business version.

Overall, we would recommend trying the free version of Fathom first to determine how you and/or your team actually use the product. If you are working in a collaborative environment, we believe that the Team version is where you will ultimately end up.

It offers unlimited recording and transcription for free, whereas Otter caps you at 300 minutes per month with a strict 30-minute limit per meeting. However, Otter gives you unlimited "basic" summaries, while Fathom restricts its advanced AI summaries to just 5 per month on the free plan.

1. Paid Individual plans: We think Otter’s Pro plan is technically cheaper for solo users at $8.33/month (billed annually), compared to Fathom’s Premium at $15/month.
