My top 3 Gmail alternatives
By Jean-Loup Karst, Co-founder @Secret
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Outlook is part of the Microsoft Office set of apps and along with letting you send and receive email is a tool for managing your calendar, tasks, contacts, notes, and even a web browser. If you are also dealing with multiple commitments or appointments into which your emails may or may not fit, Outlook becomes very handy. You can schedule and invite to meetings directly from an email and you can even share your calendar with team members.
So, if you are currently on Gmail, and you are looking for something more integrated and business-focused, Outlook can be a credible option. The way that Outlook integrates with other Microsoft applications like Teams and Word makes Outlook convenient for business purposes. The only downside could be that you are likely used to a much simpler layout (Gmail) and find it easier to navigate. Overall, I think if you are looking for email with great scheduling and task management capabilities, then it is worth checking out.
iCloud
iCloud is Apple's cloud storage and computing service. The email service is sleek and user-friendly, making it a good choice for those who prefer straightforward functionality. It seamlessly integrates with other Apple services and devices, allowing you to access your emails, photos, documents, contacts, and more from any device. For instance, if you're drafting an email on your iPhone but want to finish it on your Mac, iCloud makes this transition seamless.
Proton Mail
ProtonMail is a secure email service based in Switzerland that prioritizes privacy and security above all else. It uses end-to-end encryption to ensure that only you can access your emails. This makes it an excellent choice for those who handle sensitive information or are concerned about their privacy. For example, journalists handling sensitive sources or businesses dealing with confidential client information may find ProtonMail particularly useful.
List of Alternatives to Gmail

Microsoft Outlook compared to Gmail
Gmail has better positive reviews than Microsoft Outlook: 98 vs 90
Gmail is better at customer support than Microsoft Outlook: 4.5 vs 4.0
Gmail is better at ease to use than Microsoft Outlook: 5.0 vs 4.5
Gmail is better at value for money than Microsoft Outlook: 4.8 vs 4.4
Gmail is more versatile than Microsoft Outlook: 16 vs 10
Why is Microsoft Outlook a good alternative to Gmail?
I find Gmail to be a great alternative to Microsoft Outlook due to its various features and user-friendly interface. Gmail offers an immense storage capacity, allowing me to store thousands of emails without worrying about running out of space. It also provides powerful search capabilities, making it easy for me to locate old emails. The integration with Google's suite of tools like Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive is seamless, enhancing productivity. Additionally, Gmail's spam filter is highly effective in keeping unwanted emails at bay. Its mobile app is robust and reliable, ensuring I can access my emails anytime, anywhere. Lastly, being a cloud-based service, Gmail doesn't require any software installation and can be accessed from any device with internet connectivity.
What are the differences between Microsoft Outlook and Gmail?
I've used both Gmail and Microsoft Outlook extensively and I've noticed several key differences between the two. Firstly, Gmail is a free email service provided by Google, while Outlook is a part of Microsoft's Office suite which requires a subscription. Gmail's interface is more user-friendly and intuitive, whereas Outlook's interface caters more to business and professional use with its robust features like calendar integration and task management.
When it comes to storage, Gmail provides 15GB of free storage shared across all Google services, while Outlook offers 50GB for email alone. In terms of security, both provide strong measures but Outlook has an edge with its built-in malware and spam filtering. Lastly, while Gmail excels in search capabilities due to Google's search technology, Outlook offers better offline access. Overall, the choice between the two often depends on personal preferences and specific needs.

iCloud compared to Gmail
Gmail has more positive reviews than iCloud: 98 vs 93
Gmail is better at support than iCloud: 4.5 vs 4.4
Gmail is easy to use compared to iCloud: 5.0 vs 4.5
Gmail pricing plans are more competitive than iCloud: 4.8 vs 4.3
Gmail has more options than iCloud: 16 vs 12
Why is iCloud a good alternative to Gmail?
I find Gmail to be a great alternative to iCloud because it offers a variety of advantages. First and foremost, Gmail is platform-independent, meaning it can be accessed from any device with an internet connection, regardless of the operating system. This is not the case with iCloud which is primarily designed for Apple devices. Secondly, Google Drive, which comes integrated with Gmail, offers 15GB of free storage as compared to iCloud's 5GB. This extra space can be very useful for storing larger files or backups. Lastly, Gmail's interface is user-friendly and its search functionality is superior, making it easier to locate specific emails or files. It also seamlessly integrates with other Google services like Google Calendar and Google Docs, enhancing productivity. Therefore, in my opinion, Gmail offers more flexibility and functionality than iCloud.
What are the differences between iCloud and Gmail?
I have noticed several differences between Gmail and iCloud. Firstly, Gmail is a product of Google while iCloud is a service provided by Apple. Gmail primarily focuses on email services, but it also offers other services like Google Drive for storage and Google Meet for video conferencing. On the other hand, iCloud is a cloud storage and cloud computing service which synchronizes all your Apple devices, allowing you to access your data from any device at any time.
Another major difference lies in their compatibility. Gmail is more versatile as it can be used on any device regardless of the operating system. In contrast, iCloud works best with Apple devices and its functionality may be limited on non-Apple devices. Lastly, while both offer free storage, Gmail provides 15GB across all Google services whereas iCloud offers only 5GB.

Dissemination of false facts
Most criticisms in these reviews blame ProtonMail for issues that are clearly caused by the users' devices or network settings and not by the mail provider. Leaving these factually incorrect reviews uncommented borders on defamation, in my opinion. Furthermore, ProtonMail is free; something else is claimed here. Fortunately, ProtonMail is already established in relevant circles and is not dependent on such trash sites as this.

Why is Proton Mail a good alternative to Gmail?
I highly recommend Gmail as an alternative to ProtonMail due to its extensive features and seamless integration with other Google services. Gmail offers a larger storage capacity of 15GB compared to ProtonMail's 500MB free plan. This allows me to store more emails and attachments without worrying about running out of space.
Furthermore, Gmail's robust search functionality is superior, making it easier for me to locate specific emails. The interface is user-friendly and customizable, which enhances my overall email experience. Additionally, Gmail's spam filter is highly effective, ensuring that unwanted emails don't clutter my inbox.
Another significant advantage is the seamless integration with Google Workspace (formerly G Suite), including Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive. This makes sharing files and collaborating on projects straightforward and efficient. Hence, for these reasons, I find Gmail a more versatile and practical choice than ProtonMail.
What are the differences between Proton Mail and Gmail?
As an individual who uses both Gmail and ProtonMail, I've noticed several differences between the two. Firstly, Gmail is a product of Google, a tech giant known for its extensive data collection, while ProtonMail is an independent Swiss company prioritizing user privacy and security. Gmail provides unlimited storage for free users, whereas ProtonMail offers only 500MB. However, ProtonMail stands out with its end-to-end encryption feature, which ensures that only you and your recipient can read your emails. On the other hand, Gmail scans the content of your emails to deliver personalized ads. Furthermore, ProtonMail does not require any personal information to create an account, unlike Gmail which requires a phone number for verification. Lastly, Gmail has more advanced features like smart replies and nudges due to its AI integration.

"I have been using Google Workspace daily for several months and the experience has been overall very satisfactory. The suite brings together Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet and Drive in a coherent environment, which truly simplifies real-time collaboration between colleagues. Simultaneous document editing and cloud synchronization work flawlessly, and onboarding remains accessible even for non-technical users. The video conferencing features and file sharing adequately cover the needs of a remote team. A few caveats though: the more advanced administration options require some time to adapt to, and pricing can rise depending on the number of users. To better understand how to integrate this type of tools into a modern e-commerce approach, I found useful resources at https://universalcommerceprotocol.fr/. Overall, a reliable and productive tool that I recommend."

Outstanding Sales Engagement Tool
So far, the implementation and training team for Outreach have been fantastic. The product is dependable and has greatly improved our team's efficiency. It streamlines the process for my sales reps to act on leads by automating many steps that would otherwise be manual, freeing them up to focus on other areas. Outreach is highly customizable, but the setup is complex and not just "plug and play". It takes some time to get used to all the features. We switched to Outreach because we needed a system that was more robust than Groove.

Exploring Wisestamp: A Review on its Pricing and Billing System
I had the opportunity to explore Wisestamp and I must say, it's quite an interesting software. I'm glad I used privacy.com and set a credit card limit before providing my card details. This company seems to be quite assertive in their approach. I appreciate the need for businesses to generate revenue, and was surprised when I was charged $7 upfront instead of the expected $5.8 per month. I believe this could be a great value if you're planning to use the service long-term. I imagine their refund process is as robust as their billing system.
