5 Best Alternatives to Scalingo

DigitalOcean works well for a 2–5 person product team that wants something PaaS-shaped now, but doesn’t want to be boxed into only PaaS primitives later. My typical pattern is: App Platform web service for the API, a worker component for queues, and a free static-site component for docs/marketing, each component can be sized independently, starting at $5/month for a small container. If I need a stable egress identity for third-party allowlists, I can add the dedicated egress IP add-on ($25/app) instead of standing up my own NAT layer. If I’m cost-sensitive early on, the free tier for up to three static-site apps is a practical place to park a status page or public documentation. Later, I can move performance hotspots to Droplets or Kubernetes without changing cloud providers or billing accounts.
