Cons from reviewers
-
Lack of comprehensive long-term view: The software does not provide a comprehensive overview of the long-term plan, such as 12 months ahead, which can limit strategic planning
-
Color usage not beneficial for all users: The current use of colors in the software is more beneficial for the planner than for contractors during planning meetings, which can lead to confusion or miscommunication
-
Difficulty in user engagement: The main challenge with the software is getting contractors and team members to engage with the platform, especially when introducing the software without updating contracts
-
Unclear PDF exports: The PDF exported from the platform could be unclear, which can cause difficulties in understanding and interpreting the data
-
Limited scheduling for delayed activities: The software does not schedule the project up to forecast completion if any activity is delayed, it only reflects the weekly delay, which can limit accurate project planning and forecasting.

Shaping the Future of Lean Construction Programming with VisiLean!
I've been using VisiLean to monitor onsite activities and it's proven to be a very useful tool. It enables me to proactively update and monitor two-week lookahead programmes, saving me significant time in gathering updates from various departments. The feature of tagging individuals allows for instant responses for trained and delayed activities, aiding in proactive issue resolution onsite and ensuring successful completion of activities. VisiLean is widely used by all main contractors and subcontractors onsite to measure progress. It's one of the best tools I've used for monitoring onsite progress. If used proactively by the site team, we can ensure all planned works are completed on time. One of the standout features of VisiLean is the mobile access, which allows engineers to update the progress of activities live on their mobile while onsite. This makes it easier for everyone executing works onsite to update their daily activities, rather than waiting to return to their offices to update progress. However, there are some areas for improvement.

7 Months with VisiLean: Insights and Impressions
VisiLean simplifies my job as a planner by enabling easy reporting without the need for multiple platforms. It effectively implements the Lean philosophy, especially in terms of visualization. I'm looking forward to using the integration of Lean and BIM in VisiLean through the model view. The scheduler view is particularly useful for weekly planning and defining related constraints. It offers real-time updates on site activities, which was extremely helpful during the pandemic. I believe VisiLean's usefulness will only grow post-pandemic, especially for planners. My only criticism is that the PDF exported from the platform could be more clear. However, I highly recommend the system. The vendor responded to my review, appreciated my feedback, and promised to address the issues. They expressed their enthusiasm to continue improving the system and working with me on my projects.

Effortless Collaboration with VisiLean
My overall experience with VisiLean has been excellent. My main challenge was not the software itself, but getting the contractors and team members to engage with the platform. This was mainly due to introducing the pilot without updating contracts and the unique circumstances of our projects. However, with proper early setup and clear project expectations, engagement wouldn't be an issue. The program is easy to learn and use for remote collaboration. I appreciate the instant updates, especially with our teams dispersed due to COVID. I like the depth of data provided in an easy-to-use sidebar that follows you through different views. I also appreciate the flexibility in managing a schedule, whether it be in Gantt, a planner board, or even exporting to P6 if necessary. The customer service is top-notch and they frequently update the software, reflecting their commitment to continuous improvement. There were some initial hiccups when importing a schedule and the Visi.
