01 What is Forest Admin?
Forest Admin is a tool that allows business teams to manipulate and organize data through a simple interface. It generates two main components: an admin backend REST API for data models and business logic, and an admin frontend with a user interface and project settings. Users can customize these components using SQL or their preferred language, and deploy the admin backend to their chosen Cloud Service Provider. Forest Admin also supports multiple environments for QA, staging, and production. Additionally, it allows users to configure roles and permissions, create teams, and invite teammates to use the tool.

Never Developing Another Backoffice Again
I find Forest Admin extremely user-friendly as it quickly scans your database and is ready for use. Although some features are still lacking, Forest's public roadmap allows you to vote for the next features you need. The vendor responded positively, expressing satisfaction in seeing customers convinced that they won't need to develop an admin panel again after using Forest Admin. They also shared a link to their public roadmap.

Outstanding Dashboard for Mongoose Users
I find Forest Admin to be an excellent tool, although some aspects of the layout design can be difficult to learn. Once I got the hang of it, it became a very powerful dashboard. It's easy to plug-in and is especially useful for non-programmers on my team who struggle with alternative solutions like robo3t. However, the Smart Views require knowledge in Ember, which is not a common platform. My team and I would prefer something like React in the future. We've also noticed that pre-save mongoose hooks are ignored by Forest Admin's "save" operations. I think there should be an option to download and save layouts, possibly as JSON files, and configure the dashboard to automatically load the layout on reboot. This would be helpful when releasing a staging version to production, as the production layout would update automatically. The vendor responded to my review, expressing their aim to empower non-programmers and their plans to support React as a platform soon. They also requested my feedback, which I found valuable.
