General information about Loom
Loom’s video communication can be used for almost any message in the workplace. With Loom, teamwork has never been easier or more effective. Whether you’re in engineering, marketing, sales, or product, Loom helps all teams increase productivity by giving people the time and flexibility to do their best work.
Loom is used in companies both for internal and external communications. The least we can say is that it has been a great success, as nearly 200,000 large and small companies use it for collaborative purposes. Easier to implement than video conferencing because it does not require coordinating different schedules, Loom’s asynchronous messaging is perfect for communicating messages and ideas to different teams within the company. Of course, even if they are far away and spread over several time zones, employees can exchange efficiently.
With no uploads or downloads required, users can use the Chrome extension or desktop application to record their screen and / or camera to make quick, personal, and high-impact announcements, record product demos, improve sales outreach, kick-off projects or design reviews, and shorten feedback cycles.
You can reduce meetings by working async across time zones and cross-functional teams, and you can close the communication gap by adding rich video context. Not only does this help your team save time and work faster, it fosters an inclusive culture where people are seen and heard. Loved by people and businesses everywhere, Loom lets you clear your schedule and deliver your message with personality.

Major Time Drain with Loom
Loom has become the biggest time-wasting software for work in 223. I was a satisfied user until about 3 months ago when they introduced the new Loom mac app. I'm unsure if this is related to the acquisition by Atlassian, but it simply doesn't function properly. I've been in constant communication with the support and tech team for 2 months, but they've been unable to resolve the issue of my videos not processing on a MacOS and a Mac Display monitor. Using a custom size for 4K doesn't work. Instead of resolving their issues, the support team suggests switching to 144p before each recording, which is extremely inconvenient, and even then, 144p doesn't process correctly. I've wasted hours of recordings, experienced a lot of frustration, and dealt with an ineffective support team that can't fix a bug in a company valued at nearly $1b. It's a fascinating world we live in.

Letdown Experience with Loom
I experienced a strange loop when logging into Loom, where I would be directed to a webpage indicating success, but the actual installed program wouldn't log me in. This seems to be a Windows issue. However, most of the time, it works fine. Soon, we won't be able to download videos without subscribing to a paid service. There's already a limit on the free tier, which I often reach, providing an incentive to pay, but I won't. I assume the decision to limit free downloads is due to shareholders not generating enough revenue, so I'll be looking for another service.
