01 Is Microsoft Outlook any Good? My expert Review

For business and email scheduling, I have used Microsoft Outlook quite a bit, which is great because it has been reliable. Outlook has sorting tools to lessen the burden of managing a flood of emails. It allows me to move through messages very quickly, and it allows me to find emails from clients in a matter of two clicks, which allows me to get work done with a significant amount of work given. Being able to schedule meetings through the threads in teams with Outlook as a part of Office 365 allows for better collaboration and reduced confusion of going back and forth with emails.

The problem I have is configuring the calendars of team members in Outlook is torturous. There is no point to the painful process of configuring your team members calendars and trying to schedule across teams can take two attempts to get everyone's calendars sorted. I really like the desktop version, but I am finding the mobile app a problem in the sense that when you sync up on the app that it can take time to sync, and options may not be there on the app to access. I think a mobile compatible functioning app would be useful when traveling to a meeting, not so much when you are working from home.

All in all, for all of the minor mistakes I have mentioned, I like Outlook, when used responsibly and moderation, for business communication and scheduling amongst other platforms for reliability and easiness to use, but my working experience would not be what it is without being part of the Office 365 suite and after using reliable Office 365 productivity tools for long run that has been my overall ease of use paradigm.

  • Unique email editing features
Outlook offers unique features for smooth email management, including the ability to recall emails. This feature is particularly useful for correcting mistakes or making changes to sent emails.

  • User-friendly interface
Microsoft Outlook has an easy-to-use interface, making it a suitable choice for beginners. It operates like a corporate email, offering a professional and organized platform for email management

  • Seamless integration with Office 365

  • Reliable email and scheduling features
Microsoft Outlook is known for its reliable email and scheduling features. It allows users to set up meetings directly in the email, enhancing the efficiency of scheduling and communication within an organization

Cons from reviewers

  • Outdated directory for adding people's calendars
The process of adding people's calendars to the Outlook view is outdated and not user-friendly. It often requires multiple attempts to add an individual's calendar, which can be time-consuming and frustrating

  • Ineffective spam blocking
Microsoft Outlook's 'block' function is primitive and struggles to effectively block spam, phishing, or other forms of malicious emails. Spammers can easily bypass this function by simply changing the sender name.

  • Mobile version needs improvements
The mobile version of Microsoft Outlook lacks in terms of functionality and responsiveness. Despite its seamless integration with the Office 365 suite, the mobile version could benefit from enhancements for a better user experience

  • Overwhelming submenus
The extensive submenus in Microsoft Outlook can be overwhelming when trying to adjust simple settings. This is due to the multitude of features that the software offers

  • Poor management of emails from other providers
Microsoft Outlook struggles with managing emails from other providers. It is often more effective to use the provider's own app or website for these tasks

04 How Microsoft Outlook compare to similar software?

05 Who is Microsoft Outlook best for according to our reviewers?

  • Developers
Developers can benefit from Microsoft Outlook's developers mode that enables efficient macro running. They can also create folders and direct related emails to them based on rules

  • Long-term users
Long-term users of Microsoft Outlook may find the forced upgrade to the web version disappointing as it oversimplifies a productivity tool to the point of making it less effective. They may also struggle with the amount of spam mail received daily despite setting up numerous rules and repeatedly blocking and reporting emails.

  • Project managers
They can use Microsoft Outlook as an archive for all project-related matters, productivity, and follow-ups. It helps them manage hundreds of emails each week, identifying the most important ones and filtering out the rest

  • Office 365 users
Microsoft Outlook is particularly beneficial for those who use the Office 365 suite, as it seamlessly integrates Office 365 into daily business operations. However, the mobile version could be enhanced for better user experience

  • Email editors
Microsoft Outlook is an excellent choice for email editing as it provides all the basic needs and many more features for smooth email management, including a unique feature to recall emails. However, it struggles with managing IMAP on shared servers

Microsoft Outlook: Prioritizing User Safety and Security

I wish I could give more than five stars to Microsoft Outlook because they truly prioritize individual safety and security. They have a robust system in place to filter scam emails, making it easy to report and block these simultaneously. Even after setting up blacklist words, Outlook impressively manages to filter out blocked words, individuals, and scam messages. They take action on reported emails promptly, some of which could be potentially offensive. In my opinion, Outlook is the best. I would highly recommend investing in their upgraded features as they never fail to impress. If you're considering an alternative, give Google a try, but in my experience, Outlook has always been my go-to!

    Top-tier Email Solution for Businesses

I've had an excellent overall experience with Microsoft Outlook. It has significantly simplified my work life and is clearly designed to enhance my professional performance. It's the best email service for an organization, far surpassing other tools. I value the ability to create folders, save emails, and organize them effectively. I also appreciate the clear distinction between read and unread emails. The integration with Teams and the ability to set up meetings directly in the email is also very handy. However, I wish there was a feature to automatically mark deleted items as "read". I don't like seeing unread messages in my deleted items. I also wish there was a more efficient way to filter out and mark certain emails as junk.
