Retool and Bubble are both no-code/low-code platforms that allow you to build internal and web apps to streamline your business. However, there are some key differences between them. Firstly, the platforms have different target audiences. Retool is a low-code platform primarily designed for users with developer expertise. It mainly caters to enterprises wanting to build internal tools like web and mobile apps and workflows. The platform emphasizes flexibility and customization. For example, users can write their own JavaScript code to customize an app or workflow.
Compared to Retool, Bubble is a no-code tool. It requires no technical expertise and is often used to build consumer-facing web apps like SaaS and e-commerce stores. Although its advanced features can involve an initial learning curve, Bubble provides extensive training resources and a supportive user community. While it may not offer the same level of technical customization as Retool, it is a more user-friendly...

Faster Internal Requests with Self-Serve Dashboards
Retool is one of the few tools we adopted that actually shortened turnaround time for internal requests. Our PMs can tweak forms and dashboards themselves, and the SQL editor with parameterized queries is genuinely useful. That said, performance can dip if you overload a page with too many components

Fast Integrations for Support Workflows
We use Retool to manage customer support workflows, and the biggest win has been how quickly it connects to Postgres, Stripe, and our REST endpoints in one place. I like the JavaScript support for custom logic, but debugging can get messy when too much logic lives in the app instead of the backend

Quick Internal Apps with SSO and Environments
Retool made it realistic for a small technical team like ours to ship internal apps quickly. SSO setup was straightforward, and the environment settings helped us keep staging and production separate. I do think the interface can feel a bit crowded when an app grows beyond its original scope

From Spreadsheets to Admin Panel Fast
What sold me on Retool was how fast we could go from spreadsheet chaos to a working admin panel. The UI builder is easy to learn, and audit logs have been useful for accountability. We also happened to get our first year covered on a monthly Team plan through Joinsecret, which made trying it much easier

Scales Across Teams with Non-Engineer Edits
We use Retool across support, finance, and logistics, and it has held up well because non-engineers can handle basic changes without opening tickets every time. The mobile responsiveness is decent for internal use, and the query library helps keep things organized, though I would still document everything carefully as the app count grows

Unified Ops Dashboards Across Systems
I like Retool most for operational dashboards where you need data from several systems in one screen. The permissions model, temporary state, and transformer functions cover a lot of day-to-day needs. We were also able to use a Joinsecret offer that covered a year on the monthly Business option, which made procurement much easier

Returns Management with Reusable Logic
We built a returns management tool in Retool, and the integration with our database plus conditional form logic saved a lot of manual work. I also appreciate that you can reuse queries and components across apps. The pricing is not trivial, so getting a year included through Joinsecret on the monthly Team plan was a nice bonus, not the main reason we chose it

Inventory and Fulfillment Head Start
I’ve had a good experience using Retool for inventory and fulfillment operations. The app templates gave us a head start, and role-based access control meant warehouse staff only saw what they needed. We got access for a year on the monthly Business tier through Joinsecret, and that definitely lowered the risk of adopting it early

Cleaner Finance Approvals and Automations
Retool helped us replace a bunch of fragile scripts with a cleaner internal dashboard for finance approvals. The workflow automation piece is better than I expected for moving data between systems, although I still wish version control felt a bit smoother for larger teams

Internal Tools Without Frontend Load
Retool has been a solid fit for our ops team because we could build internal tools without pulling frontend engineers off product work. The table component, query editor, and built-in permissions made it practical from day one, though complex state management across multiple pages still takes some discipline
