Pros from reviewers
-
Streamlined workflow: Shift provides a centralized platform for managing various external browser apps and desktop programs, making workflow management more efficient and less cluttered
-
Enhanced productivity: By consolidating frequently used applications, websites, and programs into one user interface, Shift significantly improves productivity and reduces redundancy
-
Easy account switching: Shift allows for fast and easy switching between different accounts once websites are loaded, which is particularly useful for users managing multiple accounts for the same service
-
App integrations: Shift's app integrations eliminate the need for keeping multiple apps or windows open, thereby improving efficiency and desktop organization
-
Customization: Shift offers a high level of customization through the installation of extra apps, allowing users to tailor the platform to their specific needs.
Cons from reviewers
-
Limited advanced features: Despite its ease of use and tab management, Shift lacks advanced features compared to its competitors, such as Wavebox, which continually introduces new features and supports Linux
-
Frequent glitches and updates: Users have reported encountering glitches in the dashboard almost every day, and frequent updates often cause the dashboard to malfunction, hindering navigation through mail, folders, and drafts
-
Poor customer support: When users reach out to support for help with glitches and bugs, they are often suggested to uninstall the software or try an alpha or beta version, which also come with their own set of issues. The support team has been described as unhelpful and unresponsive
-
Limited email integration: The email feature in Shift only works with major platforms like Gmail and 365, and there is no option to disable the Gmail integration for users who don't use Shift for email
-
Constant need to log in: Shift struggles to keep accounts logged in as much as a regular browser, leading to the need to constantly sign in to apps. This is particularly inconvenient when clicking a link from an app in Shift, as it opens within Shift and not the user's preferred browser.

Multiple Attempts at Calling
I tried numerous times to contact Shift for assistance through calls and emails, but was unable to reach anyone. Each time I called, I was put on hold indefinitely. Despite my pleas for a response in my emails, no one got back to me. This left me feeling frustrated and worried. If it weren't for the satisfactory offer on my car, I doubt I would have used Shift. I hope they can improve their response to calls and emails to better assist their customers and alleviate their frustrations.

Streamline Your Business with Shift: The Intuitive Multi-Account Management Software
After trialing Shift for two months, I had to stop using it due to the Gmail account restriction, despite its impressive features. If you're a Gmail user for business, Shift is a fantastic tool for consolidating all your services in one place. It excels at keeping all your accounts logged in and ready to use, eliminating the need for multiple browser tabs. This is especially handy if you have multiple accounts for the same service, like Gmail. Shift supports many services natively, including major email providers, social media, CRMs, and other business software. However, a significant downside is that your Shift account must be linked to a Gmail account. If you use Outlook/Office365, you need to link it to a Gmail account first to set up your additional emails. This is not practical for companies that use Office365 for all in-office accounts, as there's no workaround and no solution according to support.

Efficient and Fast Website Management with Shift
I find Shift to be a very useful program that significantly enhances my productivity, even though it's not perfect and could use some additional features. The software is incredibly simple and straightforward to use, with the setup only requiring me to log into my accounts. I value the high level of customization available through the installation of extra apps. Once websites are loaded, switching between accounts is very fast. The cross-account search feature is especially helpful when I can't recall which account received a specific email. However, I can only select account and app colors from a specific set, and I can't dock extra Google apps on the top-right - only the default Gmail, Calendar, and Drive are instantly accessible. Also, only a select number of Chrome extensions are available to install. The program does take some time to start up. I switched to Shift from using separate web apps and the browser for managing my email, WhatsApp, and other tasks. Having everything in one centralized place with Shift makes things much clearer and faster for me.

Smitten at Second Glance
I was initially attracted to Shift's functionality after seeing an ad on Instagram. It appeared to be the perfect solution to minimize the numerous Chrome tabs I had open for work. I downloaded the free version and initially loved it, but soon ran into its limitations. After a short break, I found that I enjoyed using it despite its limited functionality, as it simplified my workflow. I decided to buy the full version, which offered more integration options and ran smoothly. My company uses various external browser apps and desktop programs like Trello, Slack, Quip, Asana, Monday.com, Twitter, Salesforce, Email Clients, and more. With Shift, my workflow is streamlined and easier to manage from one desktop app. Now, my web browser is solely for simple searches, and I only have a few applications downloaded on my computer, saving space and time.
