The main difference between the two plans is that you receive all the standard features (unlimited calls in supported countries, messaging, transcribed call summaries through AI, basic analytics, etc.) at a low cost in Standard. This plan is perfect for a small business that requires only a simple, smart, modern phone solution.


Pro, however, will be what you need when you're using Dialpad in a more complex way than a simple phone solution. This includes having multiple phones ringing at one time, having international offices, having more powerful analytics, routing options, and integration with applications such as Salesforce, or HubSpot. Based on this, we believe the primary differentiator between Standard and Pro is how well Pro can integrate with the remainder of your application suite. We generally recommend the Standard option if you simply require a smart, modern phone solution. However, based on our experience, we normally recommend the Pro option when you have several teams, several locations, or when you're using CRM driven workflows.

Dialpad’s Pro and Enterprise pricing plans have significant differences that become more relevant to you once you leave the "growing teams" phase behind and enter into the "complex organizations" phase.


Pro provides a great deal to begin with: it supports multiple offices; it has integrations available (Salesforce, Hubspot, etc.); it offers stronger analytics than Standard; and it allows you greater control over routing and numbers. Most growing companies will find what they need in Pro.


Enterprise is an entirely different beast altogether. This is where you can access enterprise-level IT and security features: single sign-on (SSO), advanced compliance, tighter controls around your data, and more granular admin permissions. The enterprise plan also typically includes a higher level of engagement from Dialpad (i.e., account management, custom onboarding, SLA discussions, etc.).


To us, Pro represents a plan for companies looking for power without the bureaucracy that comes with it. Once, however, legal, security, and IT begin to have their own opinions about how things should be done, Enterprise begins to make more sense.


In general, we would recommend the Enterprise plan to companies with less than, say, a few hundred users and operating in industries that require very high regulatory standards. Otherwise, there may be too many controls and support options included in the Enterprise plan that you may not have the opportunity to take advantage of before you reach the point at which you are willing to pay for them.

Although Dialpad does not provide a free plan for customers, they do provide an opportunity for a 14 day free trial of their services. In reality, a temporary free trial is a better option than a limited free service as it allows you to experience Dialpad as a customer would. The 14 day free trial will allow you to experience Dialpad's call quality, AI capabilities, the adoption by your team, and the ease of use of the administrative portion of the software.


We recommend that during the 14 day free trial you should test the full functionality of Dialpad similar to testing the full implementation of Dialpad within your organization. Test Dialpad on your team by adding a few real users and routing some real calls to them; integrate Dialpad into your existing workflows and processes; and observe how your team responds to using Dialpad. It is also helpful to determine what benefits you want to achieve from implementing Dialpad (i.e., faster response time, improved call notes, easier routing) and then compare those desired benefits to your actual results after the 14 day free trial period. This will allow you to make an informed decision about whether the costs of Dialpad are justified.

What are the limitations of Dialpad's free trial?

The first limit is that you have a 14 day trial period, which means you need to take some time to plan out testing the product or you will run out of time. The second limit is that you are going to be using a very small subset of users and phone lines as opposed to the much larger group of users and phone lines that would be used by paying customers. It is unrealistic to expect to migrate your entire company from one system to another in a two-week time frame. While we do not think there are many limits on the amount of functionality provided for free, the largest limitation is likely the way that the free trial is approached. While simply clicking through the features of Dialpad may give you a feel for its interface, unless you have defined specific goals for your trial (i.e., response times, call quality, note taking, etc.) you will likely run out of time before you have been able to evaluate whether or not the product works for your needs. We typically recommend approaching the free trial of Dialpad as a "pilot": select a small team of people, define what you hope to accomplish with the trial (i.e., faster response times, better call quality, etc.), and then compare the performance of Dialpad at the end of the trial to those goals.

Specifically: real-time transcriptions, live coaching, call summaries , this actually does help teams get a better sense of what was said during a conversation without forcing people to manually write everything up.


The second major advantage is the single-platform experience. With Dialpad, you have calls, messages, video meetings, contact center, etc... , all contained within the same platform. This makes it so that you don't feel as though you're using multiple products and trying to tie them all together with duct tape.


The third major advantage we see with Dialpad is ease-of-use: administrators can configure things like number assignment, routing, and user management without being telecom experts; typically end-users also find the interface easy to use and can start using the product fairly quickly. The fact that messaging is integrated into the same app as your dialing also eliminates the common problem of having multiple threads in Slack, Email and Random SMS.


This is especially worthwhile for people working in Sales, Customer Success, Support roles or anywhere else where there is prior call history context which is valuable to have access to. I would say we usually recommend running the free trial for an actual period of time (i.e. real calls) and see if Dialpad truly helps reduce the amount of work you have to do daily.
