My top 3 Quo (ex. OpenPhone) alternatives
By Jean-Loup Karst, Co-founder @Secret
I've been looking into similar software to Quo and have found three options that stand out: Google Voice, RingCentral MVP, and Dialpad.
Google Voice
Google Voice is a phone service that lets you easily forward calls, manage voicemail, and handle voice and text messaging. It also supports international calling for people with Google accounts. It's a solid alternative to OpenPhone, offering similar features along with the added convenience of seamless integration with other Google tools. If your business already uses Gmail or Google Calendar, adding Google Voice can simplify your workflow even further.
Personally, I think Google Voice is a reliable and user-friendly option, especially if you're already invested in Google's ecosystem. It can help streamline your communications without requiring you to juggle multiple platforms.
RingCentral MVP
RingCentral MVP is another excellent option. This cloud-based phone system is designed for businesses of all sizes and offers features like call forwarding, auto-receptionist, and even video conferencing. It's a robust solution that can handle the communication needs of a growing business. For instance, a company with multiple departments can use RingCentral's auto-receptionist feature to direct incoming calls to the right person or team.
Dialpad
Dialpad is a modern cloud-based phone system that offers voice, video, messages, and meetings across all of your existing devices. It's known for its user-friendly interface and advanced voice recognition technology. A good example of its use would be for remote teams. With Dialpad, team members can easily communicate and collaborate from anywhere, making it an ideal solution for today's increasingly remote workforce.
List of Alternatives to Quo (ex. OpenPhone)
Here are some of Quo (ex. OpenPhone)'s top competitors in the Call Centers category: Google Voice, RingCentral MVP, Dialpad or Grasshopper.

Why is Google Voice a good alternative to Quo (ex. OpenPhone)?
I find OpenPhone a compelling alternative to Google Voice due to its robust features and excellent customer service. Unlike Google Voice, OpenPhone is specifically designed for business use, offering multiple lines, shared phone numbers, and advanced call routing options. It integrates seamlessly with other tools I use daily such as Slack and email, making it easier to manage communications in one place.
Their customer service is also commendable. While Google Voice offers limited support, OpenPhone provides prompt and personalized assistance, ensuring any issues are quickly resolved. Additionally, OpenPhone's pricing is transparent and competitive, without any hidden charges. Overall, OpenPhone delivers a more comprehensive, user-friendly experience tailored specifically for professional needs.

RingCentral MVP: Affordable and Feature-Rich Communication Solution
The affordability of RingCentral MVP is another major plus. It offers great value for money considering the wide range of features it provides.
October 19, 2024
Why is RingCentral MVP a good alternative to Quo (ex. OpenPhone)?
I have found OpenPhone to be a great alternative to RingCentral MVP due to several reasons. Firstly, OpenPhone offers a simpler and more intuitive interface that makes it easy for anyone to use. It's also more cost-effective, making it an excellent choice for small businesses or startups on a tight budget. Unlike RingCentral MVP, OpenPhone doesn't require long-term contracts, giving you the flexibility to scale your plan as your business needs change. The quality of customer support is also commendable, with quick response times and helpful assistance. Additionally, OpenPhone provides unlimited calls and texts in the US and Canada, which is not always the case with other providers. Lastly, its seamless integration with other platforms like Slack and email helps streamline communication within teams. Therefore, due to its affordability, flexibility, superior customer support, and additional features, I consider OpenPhone a good alternative to RingCentral MVP.
What are the differences between RingCentral MVP and Quo (ex. OpenPhone)?
I have found that OpenPhone and RingCentral MVP are both excellent VoIP services, but they differ in several key aspects. OpenPhone is primarily designed for small businesses and startups, offering a simple and streamlined interface with essential features like unlimited calls and texts within the US and Canada, voicemail transcription, and business hours setting. It's also more affordable with plans starting at $10 per user per month.
Conversely, RingCentral MVP caters to businesses of all sizes, including enterprises. It provides comprehensive features such as video conferencing, team messaging, CRM integrations, international calling, and advanced call handling. The pricing is higher, with plans starting at $19.99 per user per month. Plus, it supports a larger number of users compared to OpenPhone.
In essence, the choice between OpenPhone and RingCentral MVP depends on your business size, specific needs, and budget.

Searchable Call Transcriptions
We switched our support line to Dialpad mainly for the call transcription, and it has been more useful than I expected. Being able to search old conversations by keyword saves a lot of time when a customer says, “someone told me this last week.” The mobile app is solid too, though the admin settings take a bit of clicking around at first

Why is Dialpad a good alternative to Quo (ex. OpenPhone)?
I have found OpenPhone to be a great alternative to Dialpad due to several reasons. First, OpenPhone offers a more streamlined and user-friendly interface, making it easier for me to navigate and use the app. It also provides unlimited calls and texts in the US and Canada, which is perfect for my business needs. Additionally, OpenPhone offers excellent customer service with quick responses to queries or issues. The pricing plans are affordable and offer great value for money compared to Dialpad. Lastly, OpenPhone allows integration with other tools like Slack and email which enhances productivity and communication within my team. Therefore, considering all these factors, I believe that OpenPhone is an excellent alternative to Dialpad.

More Value, More Features Elsewhere: A Look at Grasshopper
Grasshopper is okay for basic phone features, but as my business expanded, I found it too restrictive. My biggest gripe is that Grasshopper doesn't let you export or backup your text messages. They even claimed to delete all my text message history right after I ported out my numbers. This doesn't make sense from a software design perspective, especially since text messages take up negligible storage space. The price is reasonable and Grasshopper is easy to find due to their extensive advertising. However, there are better value systems out there, but they're harder to find as they don't advertise as much. I wish Grasshopper would invest more in feature development rather than marketing. I recently switched to TalkRoute because Grasshopper lacks call recording and a multi-level greeting menu. I initially chose Grasshopper for its lower cost, but I strongly recommend TalkRoute instead. It's slightly more expensive but offers more features and is just as easy to use.

Account Visibility with Notes, Tags, Timeline
Our customer success team adopted Aircall mainly for visibility, and it delivered on that. The activity timeline, notes, and tags make it much easier to understand what happened on an account before jumping into a call. We had a first month included through Joinsecret, which helped while we were comparing tools, and I’m glad we kept it because the day-to-day workflow is genuinely smoother

I find CallHippo a great alternative to OpenPhone due to its extensive features and affordability. CallHippo offers a wide range of business phone system features including call forwarding, call recording, voicemail, and IVR (Interactive Voice Response). It also provides excellent customer support that is always ready to assist with any issue. Additionally, CallHippo offers seamless integration with popular CRM systems which makes it easier to manage customer interactions.
When it comes to pricing, CallHippo is very competitive. It offers a free version for small teams and startups, and its paid plans provide excellent value for money given the extensive features they include. Furthermore, CallHippo's user-friendly interface makes it easy to set up and use, reducing the time needed for training and implementation. Therefore, for businesses looking for a comprehensive yet affordable business phone system, CallHippo stands out as an excellent choice.

Firstly, CallHippo is more focused on providing services for larger businesses and enterprises, while OpenPhone primarily targets small businesses and startups. Secondly, CallHippo offers a wider range of features such as call transfer, call queuing, and conference calling. In contrast, OpenPhone has a simpler interface with fewer features but includes unlimited calls and texts within the US and Canada in its basic plan.
Another key difference lies in their pricing structure. CallHippo has a more complex pricing model with different tiers based on the number of features, whereas OpenPhone offers a flat rate per user. Lastly, in terms of customer support, CallHippo provides 24/7 live rep support while OpenPhone only offers online support during business hours.

Great Onboarding; Less Impressive Sales Tactics.
The onboarding process for Nextiva was straightforward, with a representative guiding me through all the features. However, I found the sales process misleading. I was told I needed multiple add-ons to sign up, which were free for the first 3 months.
