My top 3 Qonto alternatives
By Frédéric Laffont, Chief Technology Officer
Revolut Business
When I am looking for a business account that is similar to Qonto, but allows for greater movement across borders, I use Revolut Business. In addition to issuing both physical and virtual corporate cards, I have the ability to keep card controls on as well as make purchases in over 150 different currencies. For my payout needs, Grow and Scale allow me to do batch transfers (bulk), as well as add custom approval steps for spends and expenses, which will enable me to send contractor payments through an approval process instead of "the person who currently holds the company card". The $39.99/mo Grow plan and $149.99/mo Scale plan are very comparable to small teams or finance led operations respectively.”
Mercury
Mercury clicks for me when the workflow is “US startup banking + finance ops,” not “European IBAN hub.” The Plus plan ($29.90/mo) adds recurring invoices, an invoicing API capped at 500 invoices/month, and reimbursements for up to 20 users/month (+$5 per extra active user). Pro ($299/mo) is the jump I associate with NetSuite-heavy teams because it adds a relationship manager and NetSuite categorizations, plus reimbursements up to 250 active users.
Spendesk
Spendesk is where I go when the real pain isn’t “having a business account,” it’s “stopping messy spend before it hits accounting.” I can set Spend Control rules, run invoice management & payment with approval workflows, and rely on OCR to extract receipt fields instead of chasing PDFs. The model is also operationally concrete: 100 transactions/month are included, and each extra 100 transactions is priced as an add-on (€50/£50). Multi-entity support is capped at 3 entities, with extra entities priced at €100/£100.

Flexible API-Driven Automation for Payouts & Bookkeeping
Revolut Business has been a good fit for our consulting company because we can separate spending by team and keep tight control over limits
July 7, 2026
Why is Revolut Business a good alternative to Qonto?
Revolut Business is the alternative I pick for teams that are constantly switching currencies or paying internationally, because the product exposes the “limits that matter” directly in the plan grid. When I’m budgeting operations, I can map expected payment volume to allowances (e.g., no‑fee local transfers scaling up to 1,000 and no‑fee international transfers scaling up to 25). For a finance lead, the presence of custom spend & expense approvals and account permissions on paid tiers is the practical difference between “cards everywhere” and a controlled process. For an ops-heavy startup, the Business API on Grow/Scale is a real unlock because it’s the point where you can stop doing manual exports for every workflow you automate. I also like that subscription fees are explicit (Grow $39.99/mo, Scale $149.99/mo), so I can decide if I’m buying convenience or just paying for higher allowances.
What are the differences between Revolut Business and Qonto?
Qonto is typically an “all-in-one business account + finance tools” bundle where you can bolt on major modules as add-ons (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Expense & Spend Management are priced separately). Revolut Business feels more like a multi-currency operating layer: the plan table explicitly ties value to allowances and controls (e.g., no‑fee local transfers scale from 10 to 100 to 1,000, and no‑fee international transfers from 0 to 5 to 25, depending on plan). On the US pricing side, Revolut’s subscription fees are spelled out at $0 (Basic), $39.99 (Grow), and $149.99 (Scale). If I’m optimizing for FX/transfer volume plus spend approvals and an included Business API, Revolut wins; if I’m optimizing for a bank-like “single EU account plus modular finance add-ons,” Qonto’s structure is closer.

Why is Mercury a good alternative to Qonto?
Mercury is the one I recommend to a US-based founder or controller who wants banking plus operational finance workflows without stitching together three separate tools. If I’m sending invoices, Plus gives me recurring invoices and an invoicing API (500 invoices/month), and it even pins a concrete ACH debit cost ($1/transaction) so I can predict fees on collections. If I’m managing reimbursements at any real headcount, the built-in thresholds (Plus includes reimbursements for 20 users/month; Pro scales that to 250 active users) are exactly the kind of constraint that forces clean policy design. I also like the plan-gated clarity: recurring invoice series are Pro-only, so I know which tier I need before I redesign billing operations around the feature. If your “Qonto need” is really about invoicing + bill pay + accounting automation rather than EU-style business account infrastructure, Mercury is a very direct fit.
What are the differences between Mercury and Qonto?
Qonto’s pricing story is plan + add-ons (with published add-on monthly pricing for AR/AP/Expense & Spend Management). Mercury is organized as “free banking essentials” plus paid workflow layers: Mercury is $0/mo; Plus is $29.90/mo and adds invoicing mechanics like ACH debit on invoices ($1/transaction), recurring invoices, and an invoicing API (500 invoices/month). Mercury Pro is $299/mo and is positioned around operational complexity (relationship manager, larger reimbursable headcount, deeper accounting automation). Even the invoicing UI has plan-gated behavior: recurring invoice series are Pro-only. So in practice, I treat Mercury as “banking + bill pay/invoicing/reimbursements as configurable workflows,” whereas I treat Qonto as “business banking + finance suite with optional add-on packs.”

Flexible Spending Limits: Empowering Organizational Control with Spendesk
I appreciate the flexibility that Spendesk offers, allowing us to set specific spending limits for different departments in our organization
October 22, 2024
Why is Spendesk a good alternative to Qonto?
Spendesk is my pick for a finance/ops team that already has banking handled but keeps losing time (and control) on approvals, receipts, and invoice routing. I like that invoice management & payment is treated as a first-class workflow with centralization, approval steps, supplier management, and OCR extraction, because that’s what reduces the “Slack me the invoice” chaos. The transaction-based packaging is also operationally useful: 100 transactions/month included, then €50/£50 per extra 100 transactions, which makes it easy to forecast cost as purchasing volume grows. Multi-entity is opinionated too (max 3 entities; extra entities priced at €100/£100), which is a good forcing function if I’m trying to keep structure clean across subsidiaries. If you’re using Qonto mostly for “spend controls + payables hygiene,” Spendesk can be the sharper tool for that specific job.
What are the differences between Spendesk and Qonto?
Qonto and Spendesk overlap on “cards + spend visibility,” but they’re built with different centers of gravity. Qonto is the account itself, and then you add modules (AR/AP/Expense) depending on how far you want to push the finance stack. Spendesk is a spend + payables control plane: it’s explicitly designed around invoice management & payment (digitalization, centralization, approval workflows), supplier management, credit note management, and OCR extraction for receipts/invoices. The pricing mechanics are also different: Spendesk includes 100 transactions/month and charges for additional blocks of 100 transactions, and it prices multi-entity as a paid expansion beyond the first entity (up to a max of 3). If I need an actual bank account replacement, I start with Qonto; if I need tighter approvals, invoice routing, and transaction-governed controls that can sit alongside an existing bank, I start with Spendesk.

Fast FX, Trackable Transfers & Family Junior Accounts
One thing Revolut gets right is speed. Currency exchange is fast, bank transfers are easy to track, and setting spending limits on cards takes seconds. I also like the junior account option for families, although setup took me a little longer than expected. Still, it’s one of the few finance apps I’ve kept using regularly

Exploring the Strengths and Weaknesses of SAP Concur
Overall, I'm fairly satisfied with SAP Concur. I don't travel often, so the time it takes to book and report expenses is bearable. As an admin, setting up new users can be complicated and I can't do it without notes, but this could be more related to my company's policies than the software itself. Reimbursing expenses is simple and practical. However, the online booking feature can be time-consuming. When I select flights and try to book, another screen appears with alternative flights, which extends the process.
