Rippling continues to be a great HRIS solution, particularly when we are onboarding new hires. When using Rippling at a startup-type of organization, it was evident that it is a great solution where we were onboarding multiple employees all at once and not having to worry about all of the paperwork from the HRIS. The user-friendly dashboards were also beneficially simple and made it easy for new hires to manage their own documents and benefits. Therefore, we did not have to spend as much time onboarding new hires, which gave the HR department a little breathing room.
Another nice aspect of Rippling was their seamless integration with QuickBooks and HomeBase integrations. For a mid-sized amount of growth in a company, I can say there was seamless integration that saved us headaches. Manually entering employee data for payroll with other systems such as QuickBooks, tracked and reported data delivery with HRIS visibility and eliminated the manual entry (and errors) that were previously present in the system and reporting capabilities - it took a horrible mess and made it somewhat organized.
Although, I can say, during the initial setup there were some road bumps our organization experienced; especially smaller ones with fewer resources. We had a few issues configuring payroll taxes, benefit structures, among other things, at the entry stage. I must say that customer support at the time was not speedy, especially with needing to get back to the customers through a ticket system.
Even with some of those bumps in the setup, in the end the benefits of Rippling overshadowed the occasional headache. Rippling is definitely user-friendly with a powerful integrations with some powerful efficiencies, and while it may be difficult for companies starting off that are smaller due to costs, the long term productivity benefits along with reduced administrative headaches for growth purposes - makes it a solid investment for any company looking to ramp up its employment opportunities and grow overhead accordingly.
Seamless integration
Rippling integrates well with other software such as QuickBooks, HomeBase, and timeclock/scheduling software, making it a more comprehensive solution for businesses
Streamlined HR tasks
Rippling significantly reduces the time spent on HR tasks such as employee onboarding, benefits selection, and payroll, allowing users to focus more on their core business activities
User-friendly interface
The software is praised for its intuitive and easy-to-navigate interface, making it simple for both employees and administrators to use. It also provides clear and concise data presentation
Comprehensive features
Rippling offers a wide range of features and capabilities that outshine many other HRIS on the market. These include advanced technology, excellent integrations, simple onboarding, and many benefits that companies utilize daily
Excellent support
Despite some criticisms, many users have found Rippling's support team to be responsive, knowledgeable, and helpful in resolving issues.
Lengthy initial setup time
The initial setup time for Rippling can be quite lengthy and frustrating. This can delay the implementation of the software and cause inconvenience
Subpar customer support
Despite the advanced technology and user-friendly interface, Rippling's customer support has been reported as subpar. Smaller companies do not receive a dedicated support member and are left to navigate their ticketing system for payroll, benefits, etc. This can be quite frustrating
Slow customer support response time
Some users have reported that it can take up to 30 minutes to resolve a not-so-complicated problem with customer support. This can be time-consuming and inefficient.
Hidden reporting on payroll tax credits
Some users have reported that the reporting on payroll tax credits is hidden, leaving them unsure of how they're being applied. This lack of transparency can create confusion and uncertainty
High cost for small businesses
Rippling may be too costly per employee for smaller businesses or startups. This can make it less accessible for smaller organizations

No-Code Workflow Automation for HR Changes
What stands out to me is the workflow automation, since we built simple rules for promotions, location changes, and probation completion without needing a developer, and that cut down the back-and-forth between HR, finance, and IT

Reliable Payroll & Time-Off Integration
The payroll side has been reliable for us and the approval flow is clear enough that managers actually use it, plus time-off policies are easier to enforce now that they are tied directly into pay runs and employee records

Joinsecret Bonus + Reminder to Clean Data Early
I wasn’t shopping for discounts, but the 6 months free via Joinsecret was a nice bonus, and it let us test payroll plus IT management together, the only thing I’d warn is to plan time for the initial data cleanup so the org chart and permissions are right from day one

Joinsecret Deal Helped Replace Other Tools
We got a 6 months free deal through Joinsecret when we signed up and it gave us enough runway to roll it out properly, especially the device management piece, and by the time billing kicked in we’d already replaced two other subscriptions

Quick, Useful Reporting with Custom Fields
Reporting is good for day-to-day needs, I can pull headcount, comp changes, and PTO balances quickly, and the custom fields mean we can track things like clearance level and equipment status without another database

Practical Time Tracking That Syncs to Payroll
Time & Attendance isn’t flashy but it’s practical, with reasonable rules for breaks and overtime, and it pushes approved hours into payroll without me exporting CSVs, the only gripe is it takes a bit to get policies set up correctly the first time

Tight Offboarding via Deep Integrations
We switched from a patchwork of tools and Rippling’s app integrations surprised me, especially how easy it was to connect Okta and then trigger access changes on termination, which helped tighten offboarding and reduce “forgotten accounts”

HRIS with Powerful Role-Based Automations
The HRIS basics are solid and the employee profile is the single source of truth, but what makes it worth it is the automations, like automatically adding a new hire to the right Slack groups, Google Workspace org unit, and benefits plan based on role
