Having spent time working with BambooHR from an HR perspective, I feel very positive overall. One major value that I appreciate is how easy it makes taking care of the regular HR mundane tasks. For example, the onboarding process I have have personally evaluated in BambooHR has been exceptional. Rather than completing paper forms, BambooHR allows the employee to digitally sign all documents and directly enter their own information into the system. As a result, that part of the HR process is not as time-consuming and creates space on my plate to pursue more meaningful opportunities for value creation such as employee engagement and retention.
Another value I experience with BambooHR is the organizational aspect of the employee database. The ability to keep all employee files in a single repository makes it quite simple to manage things like performance conversations, PTO balances and training to name a few. At my last role with a mid-sized tech company, this function had great value during the annual performance conversations to ensure historical data was immediately available for the managers for their preparation process.
I would note that I did have some issues with the document management feature. Things got cumbersome when working with documents or forms that were not produced from BambooHR; I didn't want to go through the rigorous scanning and label process during busy hiring cycles or increased turnover. There were also times that integration functionality with other business systems (i.e. calendar and/or local holidays) took a bit more manual intervention than I would have liked.
That said, I do like the user experience BambooHR provides and I still think it has value in any organization at a cheap price compared to other systems I have experienced. I think the interface may be a bit dated for some, but I like how simply it is built so you can navigate it with ease. There were times customer service took quite a while to respond, but ultimately I have had positive experiences with the team and would consider them professional and helpful.
All things considered, and having been involved at different stages of companies from scrappy start-up to established enterprise, I believe BambooHR is still a very good option for simplifying HR processes and improving operational efficiency.
Efficient tracking and reporting
BambooHR has been consistently improving to meet the needs of administrators, providing essential information like length of employment, job position, salary, PTOs timeline, quarterly goals, and trainings or lessons taken, and even includes an organigram for everyone in the company and the internal hierarchy
Simplifies HR tasks
BambooHR streamlines many aspects of HR work, including hiring, onboarding, timekeeping, employee performance management, payroll, and employee pulse surveys, allowing HR managers to focus more on management rather than paperwork
Comprehensive employee database
The software offers a database that enables employees to maintain their own records, track time off, sick days, and hours worked, and sign documents electronically, acting as a personal file for each company member
Cost-effective
Compared to other HR software, BambooHR is considered less expensive, with some users switching from more costly software that charged for even minor customer service assistance.
User-friendly interface
Despite some users finding the interface a bit outdated, many appreciate its simplicity and ease of use, with quick access to information and easy point and click implementation and editing
Lack of manual document automation
Despite its many features, BambooHR still requires manual scanning and labeling of documents that aren't created or automated through the software, which can be time-consuming and inconvenient, especially with high employee turnover
Outdated interface
Some users find the interface of BambooHR to be outdated and the timeline for Paid Time Off (PTO) to be less intuitive than desired. The breakdown of requests can also be confusing due to the format
Lack of cross-company payroll functionality
BambooHR does not allow for cross pay of employees from one company to another, which can be a drawback for businesses with multiple entities.
Difficulty syncing with other tools
BambooHR can struggle to sync with other tools and does not include local holidays, which can cause scheduling conflicts and misunderstandings

Personalized Service and Direct Communication: My Experience with BambooHR
I've recently had the opportunity to interact with BambooHR's Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) and it was quite an experience! I was pleasantly surprised when two of them reached out to me proactively, showing their eagerness to engage with potential clients. Their unique approach to providing pricing information over the phone rather than via email or online was a refreshing change. It gave me the chance to have a real conversation about my needs and how their software could meet them. It took a little over three weeks to arrange a call, but it was worth the wait. The 5-minute conversation was insightful and personalized, something that's often missing in today's digital world. As a B2B company owner, I appreciate the value of direct communication. It's great to see a company that still values the human touch in business interactions. The fact that they insist on calling to provide a price shows their commitment to transparency and personalized service. I understand that some might see this as a sign of disorganization or lack of transparency, but I see it differently. To me, it shows that they are willing to go the extra mile to ensure each customer gets a proposal that's tailored to their needs. This is 219, and in an era where customer experience is king, BambooHR is setting a great example. It's clear that they have a strong customer culture, and I'm excited to see how they continue to evolve. Ben Peterson, you're doing a fantastic job! Software Recommended, Company Not So Much.
The software is good, intuitive, and capable of most tasks. However, I have two main issues. Firstly, despite being based in the UK and being assured that the software could be updated to suit UK standards, this is not the case. This makes features like gender/ethnicity reporting useless as they only accept US government definitions. Secondly, while the sales team is excellent, the support team is not as impressive. We were sold an induction package that turned out to be a waste of money, and our requests for support are poorly handled. We've considered other products but decided it's not worth switching, even though we feel we were oversold on what the software can actually deliver.

BambooHR: A Game-Changer for My Work Routine!
I am extremely satisfied with BambooHR's performance and would recommend it to anyone who could find it useful. It simplifies many aspects of my daily tasks, including hiring, onboarding, timekeeping, employee performance management, payroll, and employee pulse surveys. The software provides easy time-tracking and a mobile app that lets colleagues check their time card. It also enables company-wide announcements and stores all personnel documents in one place. New procedures requiring a signature can be pushed out after the colleague reviews them. The onboarding process is streamlined and the hiring platform is convenient, allowing for the creation of templates for scheduling phone screenings and interviews. Payroll can be processed directly in BambooHR. Attendance notes and other notes can be set to be visible or hidden. If I have a custom general ledger or another payroll report, they will create it for me, although it takes some time to sort out. I don't pay the extra fee for benefits administration through BambooHR as I already use Employee.

Great Software, Disappointing Sales Experience
While searching for HR software, I tested BambooHR, having previously used it as an employee. The software itself is good, but my experience with their Sales department was disappointing, causing me to look elsewhere. BambooHR is the only SaaS platform I've encountered that doesn't list their prices, which I suspect is because they're not competitive and possibly unsure of their own pricing structure. Despite multiple inquiries about the cost for a specific package with a certain number of employees, they continually refused to provide this information, instead insisting on a call with another representative. I find this lack of transparency in pricing frustrating.

The Essential Business Tool: BambooHR
Using BambooHR has given me a clear insight into my business's progress and potential shortcomings. The platform has added a new level of professionalism to my operations with its excellent integrations, such as notifying me when my colleagues are out of the office or have a birthday. However, I did face some challenges and found the customer support response time to be somewhat slow, but I eventually got the assistance I needed. I chose BambooHR because I found it easy to navigate even before I started using it, and a YouTube video helped me understand it better. Overall, I believe BambooHR is a fantastic platform.
