Pros from reviewers

  • Easy integration: Stripe is valued for its straightforward use and seamless integration with point of sale systems, making it an excellent choice for both startups and established businesses

  • Cost-effectiveness: Stripe does not charge user fees, only transaction processing fees, making it a cost-effective solution for businesses trying to keep overhead low

  • Comprehensive dashboard: The Stripe dashboard offers a wealth of data, providing valuable insights for businesses

  • User-friendly: Stripe is easy to use and offers a client portal, making it simple to onboard new clients and transition existing ones

  • Versatility: Stripe is capable of managing one-time payments, automatic recurring subscriptions, standalone purchases, and business invoices, making it an all-in-one solution for businesses.

Cons from reviewers

  • Lack of payment failure alerts: Despite its overall user-friendliness, Stripe does not notify users when a payment fails. This can lead to missed payments and potential financial discrepancies

  • Limited dispute resolution support: When dealing with chargebacks, Stripe only allows for a single document to be uploaded for dispute resolution. This can be limiting when multiple pieces of evidence are required to resolve a dispute

  • Confusing fee structure: Some users find Stripe's fee structure to be unclear and difficult to understand. This lack of transparency can lead to unexpected costs and financial planning difficulties

  • Poor customer service: Numerous users have reported issues with Stripe's customer service, including lack of follow-up, inability to resolve issues in a timely manner, and difficulty in reaching a representative. This can lead to prolonged issues and frustration.

      Security Concerns

I find Stripe's service extremely user-friendly from a seller's perspective, almost too much so. The two-factor authentication doesn't function properly and there's no way to enforce the use of MFA on other users. In my opinion, it's the least secure 'banking' site available. By default, users remain logged in for a week, which is concerning given that payments can be made with just a click. I recently logged in after several weeks and wasn't prompted for MFA.
