Overall, I consider Checkfront to be a solid, well-rounded product. It's user-friendly and any problems that come up can typically be resolved with a bit of creativity. It provides several key features that make it adaptable and suitable for various businesses, such as activity companies, rental firms, and hotels. It's especially handy if you manage a mix of things, as you can modify different parts of the system to meet your staff and guests' needs.However, I find Checkfront's front-end booking portal plug-in to be quite unappealing and not very customizable, even with the recent upgrade. If more customization was available, I would probably use the booking page option. For now, I'll stick with the API integration, although it also leaves a lot to be desired, with no updates made to the API for years now, something my web developer often points out.I was taken aback by Checkfront's new prices. Their previous pricing was very competitive, but the new one is not.

I have a very positive opinion of Checkfront. It's been a game changer for our industry and especially for our company. The online booking feature has given us more time to focus on other important tasks and the pricing has made our business operations more effective and efficient. There are occasional glitches when trying to change a reservation and sometimes it just won't change. This can be time-consuming and frustrating, but it doesn't happen often. Sometimes, the reports can also be a bit cumbersome. We chose Checkfront because it is a superior product with better integrations and great reviews. We switched to Checkfront because our previous company couldn't provide all the integrations we needed. The vendor responded positively to our review, expressing their happiness that Checkfront helps us save time and run our business more efficiently.

It's straightforward and efficient, making it easy to manage chats, cancel and make bookings. The online troubleshooting is very beneficial, and the technicians are knowledgeable and easy to follow. I appreciate the banners for paid, unpaid, or cancelled bookings. However, the home page could be less clunky. It would be more convenient if arrivals and departures were listed on this page. Additionally, the calendar could be improved if bookings could be dragged and dropped to adjust dates.

Checkfront: The Most Frustrating Software I've Ever Encountered
I genuinely think that Checkfront is the worst product I've ever used. My company insists on using it, much to my frustration. Every aspect of using Checkfront is aggravating, not just for customers and guides, but the administrative backend is even worse. Setting up tours takes three times longer than it should. I frequently have to reach out to customer service due to product failures. Despite all the effort, the software still lacks basic functionality. While customer service is generally helpful when the software fails, I find myself needing their help quite often. The user interface and user experience are completely illogical. As a guide, the most basic thing I need is to check in guests on a tour. However, Checkfront doesn't even show me how many people are on the tour. It doesn't alphabetize the guests, forcing me to sift through a list of randomly sorted names every time a guest arrives. Many guides in our company, including myself, have refused to use Checkfront.

The software is easy to navigate and the layout of information is clear, particularly on a laptop. While I sometimes find a few features slightly difficult to understand, the excellent customer support always provides a solution. I chose Checkfront because their communication was quicker and clearer, and I was so satisfied with their service that I didn't feel the need to look elsewhere. The vendor responded positively to my feedback in February 2020, expressing their pleasure that I'm enjoying using Checkfront and offering further assistance if needed.

However, the help pages could provide more diverse examples, as they mostly focus on tour bookings. I had to figure out a lot of things through trial and error, which was time-consuming but also educational. I only have two issues with the software.

I generally find Checkfront to be good, except when I need to make changes to bookings or process refunds. The software offers many reports and options, but the two calendars can be confusing. Making changes to reservations is difficult, even with directions, leading to frustration and a lot of time spent trying to figure it out. I find it not user-friendly as there are too many terms that are not easy to learn. I didn't choose Checkfront myself. I received a response from the vendor, Jamie, who appreciated my feedback and apologized for my less than ideal experience. He suggested I check out their Ideas Portal to see potential improvements and submit my own ideas.

The online help support is outstanding, particularly the chat feature which offers immediate help. We encountered some problems with unwanted check-in and check-out dates, but these were eventually resolved. I chose Checkfront for its easy-to-use interface, the capability for clients to book online, and the reasonable fees. I switched to Checkfront because our previous software didn't allow our clients to book online. The vendor responded to my review, expressing their gratitude for my feedback and their delight that their support team was helpful and that I was able to fix the check-in/out date issues. They thanked me for choosing Checkfront.
