I regularly collaborate with other people, both for work and personal purposes, on documents, and Google Docs has quickly become a tool that is part of my workflow. It is the only document creation tool of any type that offers real-time collaboration, transforming the slow and tedious process of emailing documents to each other with colleagues to have the ability for them to work with us jointly in real-time. For example, in the past, if we were getting together to collaborate in person to create a meeting agenda, or to have a brainstorm with a client, we could each add content, comment, etc., right in front of each other at the same time, and it made everyone productive.
I have also appreciated being able to open a document and work on it on any device with internet access which is enormously valuable when I am working on the road or at home. I can start a draft on my laptop, go back to it on my phone to see how it looks, and finalize it on my tablet in one seamless experience. It is nice to be able to open the draft wherever I left off with my mobile devices less than a year ago (I really should dig in and compare the different devices I can work on, like my phone and tablet).
Some of that flexibility has also contributed to some headaches in its own right, especially with formatting inconsistencies because some people are not conscious of the differences involved with copying content from external sources, or changing a document's format for the one sanctified format of a document before the document is sent out for distribution. I see all that formatting style-crawl occurs, and then I have to waste my time cleaning it up. Furthermore, if the internet goes down, it is hit or miss when it comes to working on documents offline—who could expect the internet to be (absolutely) reliable
Things like Drive and Gmail integration has been super useful with emailing documents, inserting into shared folders, or even collaborating on Google Meet with links included in documents—has made my life easier by saving on so many hours of prep for meetings with clients.
I can't complain! For someone with a role that involves writing, Google Docs has been pretty impressive. In fact, I find it user friendly, the collaborative component is it quite powerful (and is definitely think it differentiator), and if combined with the ecosystem, is a reliable tool for many of my writing and editing activities for both personal and professional purposes.

The simplest, most factual response is: Google Docs is the best in class collaborative word processor; Notion is a modular workspace that uses documents as part of an overall workflow and knowledge management structure. As many teams are comparing them, they tend to get "writing" and "managing a team" confused as they are somewhat different functions.
When you're using Google Docs, your primary concern is creating documents quickly, editing them with others quickly and having all the versions clearly visible. The core functionality (comments, suggested edits, version history) is well-suited for use cases such as writing PRDs, proposals, and other docs where the document itself is the end product. Access control and sharing can also seem seamless since Google Docs is integrated with Google Workspace and shares many of the same tools used by users within Google centric companies.
On the other hand, Notion excels when the document is only part of a greater process or system. A document...

Excellent for Teamwork and Document Sharing
I find Google Docs very user-friendly, easy to update, and share. My team and I have transitioned most of our policies and procedures to Google Docs for more efficient communication. It's a straightforward way for us to keep our policies and protocols updated and easily shareable. The feature to share with specific team members is a significant advantage, as it allows them to edit, suggest changes, and additions. However, I would like the feature to password-protect documents for added security. We opted for Google Docs because file sharing and locating documents that need updates were crucial to our operations. We also appreciate how Google Docs facilitates the involvement of a diverse range of team members. We switched to Google Docs because we were losing documents on our server and struggling to keep up with updates to our policies and procedures.

Collaborative Teamwork Made Effortless with Google Docs!
After using Google Docs for an extended period, I've found it to be the best tool for collaborative document writing, enabling simultaneous coordination for high-quality work. The interface offers all the necessary tools for writing reports or simple research articles. The option to download the document in various formats enhances its professionalism. It's also an excellent tool for fostering group work in learning environments. However, compared to other document writing programs, Google Docs falls short in certain areas like page design, inserting shapes and graphics, etc. One of the reasons I switched to Google Docs was the challenge in creating a document that could be concurrently modified with my colleagues.

Google Docs: A Lifesaver for Document Management
I strongly recommend Google Docs to anyone who has any kind of files, folders, or documents and is on a budget. It's much more affordable than other document managers and has greatly simplified my life. The customizable templates and search function allow me to locate my files and documents more efficiently, saving me time. I found nothing to dislike about it, it's very budget-friendly. I switched to Google Docs because it performs all the functions of a document locator, but it's a more budget-friendly option and easy to use, even for someone inexperienced with computers or software programs.

Top Pick for Teamwork
Considering the capabilities and price point of Google Docs, it's my favorite software to use, particularly for collaborating with colleagues. It's user-friendly and there are numerous tutorials available, so I never feel stuck. The simplicity and ease of use for both individual and collaborative documents make it the best overall. There are some key features that I really enjoy, although others might not find them necessary. However, there is a lack of template options, both thematically and stylistically. I often have to search for free templates elsewhere to meet my needs, whether it's for Chicago, MLA, or APA style, or even for a holiday-themed document. I switched to Google Docs because it was too difficult and expensive to collaborate on documents using other software.

Undeniably the Top Word Processing Tool
Once again, Google Docs has significantly enhanced my professional life and I can't envision functioning without it now. I think it's nearly impossible not to understand how Google Docs operates. I absolutely adore it and utilize it for all my work tasks. As a remote employee, I frequently require multiple staff members to work on various reports at the same time and Google Docs makes collaboration effortless. If a mistake is made, it can easily be rectified by accessing the history, and sharing is uncomplicated. The @ feature, which allows you to assign a comment to a coworker, is the greatest invention ever. Microsoft has attempted to duplicate this, but their online sharing is chaotic compared to Google Docs, and their products are overly intricate for the output they deliver. I swear by Google Docs and Google Sheets at work. The only advantage Microsoft has is their spelling and grammar tool, which is superior to Google's. Whenever I have a grad school project, I type the entire thing in Docs and then export it to Word to ensure the spelling.
