01 Is HubSpot any Good? My expert Review

With my time to date using HubSpot, I have rolled out this CRM in different facets of business. Overall my impression of HubSpot is great, mostly due to the simple use of powerful tools to manage customer relationships. For example, I helped a medium-size e-commerce move from poorly laid out spreadsheets to HubSpot. Immediately, we could see customers were happy due to quicker response times and a clear to manage support requests.

One aspect of HubSpot I have particularly liked is the reporting and analytics. They are genuinely some of the best. Take for instance, one of my clients was in the education sector and they had customer data all over the place. With HubSpot's insightful reporting, we were able to see trends in student inquiries and improve their marketing accordingly. The results were an increase in enrollment and more efficient use of resources.

Of course, it has not all be smooth sailing. With start-ups and their limited budgets needless to say, there were several stumbling blocks; additional modules and upgrades do add up! It creates a total cost for a small team to swallow. While HubSpot offers great value for larger organizations or those with money to spend, budget-conscious teams may hesitate on their use of HubSpot, purely due to the cost.

There were also some occasional technical glitches, (mostly minor data inconsistencies) that had to be corrected manually. Thankfully these glitches were caught early and did not affect the deliverables, but it does show how far HubSpot can take automation without issues.

Overall, I would (and do) recommend HubSpot to any business that wants to grow their business while making better connections with their customers by organizing data and utilizing analytics. HubSpot comes with a few quirks, but the benefits outweigh the small issues I have had along the way.

02 Pros and cons from reviewers

Pros from reviewers

  • User-friendly and affordable
The software is easy to navigate and offers value for money, making it suitable for both departmental and enterprise needs

  • Scalability and integration
Hubspot CRM scales with business needs and allows for integrations with other workspace tools for improved customer management.

  • Insightful analytics and reporting
The software provides excellent analytics and reporting features for informed decision making to improve the business

  • Effective contact management
Hubspot CRM organizes customer data effectively, enabling businesses to collect and utilize customer data effectively

  • Enhanced customer relationships
Hubspot CRM manages customer requests efficiently, leading to increased customer satisfaction

Cons from reviewers

  • Occasional glitches
While generally user-friendly, the platform can sometimes experience minor bugs, such as names switching, corruption of phone numbers, files, titles, and occasional brief outages. These issues can potentially lead to a slightly skewed database if not addressed immediately

  • Limited contact management
Some users have reported that they can't add multiple phone numbers for a single contact or attach multiple contacts to a single email, which can be a limitation in managing customer relationships

  • High cost
Despite its robust features, Hubspot can be quite pricey, especially for small businesses or startups. The module packages and additional upgrades can add up, leading to expensive monthly fees

  • Limited intelligence
The system isn't independently intelligent and doesn't recognize slight variances or duplicates, making most tasks manual. This can lead to inefficiencies and increased workload

  • Poor customer service
Some users have reported issues with Hubspot's customer service, including difficulty in cancelling contracts, hidden charges, and lack of support when encountering problems with the platform.

04 How HubSpot compare to similar software?

While Zoho and HubSpot’s respective CRMs are popular in their own right, there are some differences between them to consider when choosing the tool for your business. Firstly, if you’re looking for a free CRM, you should closely compare the inclusions in their free versions. Zoho’s free plan is more of a pure CRM product. While it offers some email marketing tools, it mainly focuses on CRM features like sales automation, standard analytics, basic customization, and web forms. Access to Zoho’s free version is limited to 3 users. In comparison, HubSpot’s free version is a CRM suite with access to some basic marketing, service, content management system (CMS), and operational tools. These include landing pages, live chat, sales email templates, ticketing, and list segmentation features. While it offers access to a broad range of inclusions, keep in mind the free version limits the level of functionality for these. HubSpot’s free version is available to unlimited users.

Actionable Campaign Tracking + Easier Upgrade Justification

I’ve had a good experience with HubSpot for campaign tracking and contact management because it gives enough detail to act on without feeling overly technical, and the first-year discount we got through Joinsecret on the Professional and Enterprise side made the upgrade decision a lot easier to defend internally

    All-in-One CRM + CMS + Marketing Sync

Shared Inbox & Ticket Routing (Joinsecret Savings)

Smooth Scale from Free CRM to Sales Hub (Joinsecret Deal)

Easy Team Adoption + Discounted Upgrade

HubSpot is one of the few tools our team adopted without much pushing because the UI is straightforward, and when we upgraded, we got a Joinsecret perk that cut roughly a third off the higher-tier plans for a year, which helped justify rolling out more hubs sooner
