01 Is ZoomInfo any Good? My expert Review

I can honestly say that my experience with ZoomInfo (the software) has been overall great from my most recent uses. As a recruiter, it is important that I have reliable and detailed access to contact information quickly. ZoomInfo has taken that worry out of the equation and has always been my go to for engagement. It has consistently allowed me to engage with hiring managers and others in decision making roles from a multitude of industries efficiently. Just recently, I successfully filled a few niche tech roles, while being able to easily hunt those people down and engage with them through ZoomInfo.

I sincerely like that the software has a very intuitive layout. When I on-boarded other new employees, their learning curve was practically zero. They were able to start using it immediately - which was a great example of user experience design by ZoomInfo. Anytime I have questions from a technology or use standpoint, there has always sounded to be a friendly customer support representative on the other end. They are always quick, responsive, friendly and accommodating when I reach out with questions.

I have not had any issues with larger organizations and companies, but I have ran into a few inaccuracies with the smaller business or specialized positions. This has meant sometimes I have had some leg work to do to confirm the contact information of certain individuals, which is a minor slow down to the process! Also, i will say that there is wiggle room in the pricing plans, but for the startup or smaller organizations, they still feel expensive (may be deserved) for an organization who does not have the budget - and this is an unfortunate hindrance to an organization whom otherwise would be able to fully leverage a great product like ZoomInfo.

In any event, I feel the positives outweigh the negatives with a consultative approach to the software as they keep improving the platform, adding more products and services, and continuing to implement all sorts of great new enhancements regularly. Regularly scheduled upgrades and features - i.e. improved mobile dialing functionality - demonstrate that ZoomInfo wants to innovate and win market share. Although I have minor gripes about data inaccuracies or the ability to leverage the tool for smaller organizations, it is a good product for me and I foresee it staying a part of my tool kit as a recruiter!

04 How ZoomInfo compare to similar software?

Crunchbase and ZoomInfo are both prominent data intelligence platforms, but they serve users’ needs in different ways. Crunchbase is primarily recognized for its comprehensive information on startups, venture capital (VC) firms, and individual investors. This makes it particularly suitable for entrepreneurs seeking investment, VCs tracking investment opportunities, and corporates looking for acquisition targets. Its interface is designed to provide deep insights into the startup ecosystem, offering data on recent funding rounds, key investors, and industry trends.

On the other hand, ZoomInfo is designed with sales and marketing professionals in mind. It provides access to a vast database of businesses and business professionals, which is ideal for B2B sales teams looking for leads, market researchers conducting industry analysis, and recruitment teams searching for potential candidates. ZoomInfo excels in its real-time business data and insights, aiding in targeted marketing and...

Lusha and ZoomInfo are popular platforms for sourcing B2B contacts for lead generation. As well as sales, you can use Lusha’s databases for operations, marketing, and recruitment purposes. Similarly, in addition to its SalesOS, ZoomInfo offers a suite of data-related products and services, including MarketingOS, TalentOS, and OperationsOS. There are, however, two key differences between Lusha and ZoomInfo to consider.

The first is their pricing models. Lusha offers an affordable option for SMEs, with pricing details openly available on its website. While Lusha has a free plan, the platform charges per user for its paid plans, which can add up for larger teams. In contrast, users need to contact ZoomInfo for pricing information. Reviews and third-party sites indicate ZoomInfo’s pricing may align more with enterprise-level budgets and doesn’t offer a free plan. Both platforms operate a credits system, using up credits when you export a contact. For example, Lusha’s free plan includes 5...

ZoomInfo and Apollo are sales engagement platforms offering B2B contact data for lead generation. You can also use them to create and send out personalized email sequences to contacts. However, one of the key differences between them is the scope of their DNC (Do Not Call) list scrubbing. DNC list scrubbing is essential for flagging and removing numbers that have opted out of sales and marketing phone calls. It’s vital to comply with DNC legislation to reduce the risk of your business risks facing significant fines.

ZoomInfo incorporates data from DNC lists from the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand. In contrast, Apollo’s DNC list scrubbing feature is in beta and provides data for DNC lists in the US and UK. Depending on where your prospective customers are based, this may be an important consideration when choosing the right platform for your business. The other crucial difference between ZoomInfo and Apollo is their pricing approaches....

Contact Data + Buying Signals (Best with Clear ICP)

We first tried ZoomInfo after getting access via Joinsecret for a couple of weeks, and that trial was enough to see where it fit. The strongest part for us was the combination of contact data with buying signals, though I would still say it works best when your team has a clear ICP already defined

All-in-One List Building with Rich Segmentation

ZoomInfo made our list-building process much less messy. Previously we bounced between LinkedIn, company sites, and a second data provider, and now most of that work happens in one tool. I especially like the ability to build segments based on revenue range, recent funding, and functional role

Strong Trial Experience via Joinsecret + Solid US Coverage

I found ZoomInfo through Joinsecret and got two free weeks when we were comparing vendors, which gave us enough time to test workflows properly. The contact coverage in US accounts was strong, and I liked that we could map territories without stitching together data from three different tools

Outreach Context via Scoops, Hiring Signals & News

What I appreciate most is how much context you get beyond just a name and email. Scoops, hiring signals, and company news make cold outreach feel less random, and our reply rates improved once the team started using those details in messaging

Fast Outbound Lists with Direct Dials & Org Charts

ZoomInfo has been solid for building outbound lists fast, especially when I need direct dials and org charts in the same place. The intent data is not perfect, but it does help narrow down which accounts are actually worth a rep’s time

Faster Rep Ramp (and a Joinsecret Discount Helps)
